    Your Trading Mindset

Would you agree that the best mindset and optimum beliefs are worthless in the absence of a profitable trading methodology/plan? Equally - may it be true the other way around that a profitable and reliable trading methodology enforces good beliefs and a good mindset? :) Psychology is...

S&P Futures Opens Down 20 Points!

I won't bother to create a new thread on this, but it's often been said that markets drop faster than they rise. I suppose this is market dependent, but did anyone do a study on this? I have not done a study myself beyond some brief studies, but I've noticed that while a market can fall fast it...

S&P Futures Opens Down 20 Points!

It's a good time to refresh this thread as the markets are once again at ATHs. Indeed it was. Buying last Friday's Close would have been good too (worth 123,00 ES points). I maintain the belief that a sustained sell, i.e., a bear market, would need some kind of trigger to reverse the trend...

Anyone tried nootropics or similar for better focus and work endurance?

I probably would not mind trying it, but I would have a hard time obtaining it legally. Regarding nicotine and addiction - I believe the habit is just as addictive as the nicotine itself? I stopped cold turkey on the nicotine gum a year back. Never really had any problems with it. I did...

Anyone tried nootropics or similar for better focus and work endurance?

Which were you taking yourself, Pekelo? Did you feel any effects from it? Regarding vivid dreams - ZMA (zinc, magnesium and B12 complex) has that effect on me and most others I talked to. As for the L-theanine, I've been using it a bit, but it's hard to say if I notice any effects from it...

How to improve my risk management for daytrading.

The honest truth is that you should be able to discover and find the answer to these questions based on your actual trading results. Generally - the better your method, the more you can risk. If you have a method which goes deep into drawdown and takes home the occasional big winner or two...

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

I'm only casually following the news, but as far as I know - nothing is really resolved on the coronavirus? How then do the believers of news explaining price movement explain this recent rally which takes us back up to ATHs (and most likely beyond by end of this week)? You guys are as...

Need somewhere to think out loud,

How about deciding to be an intraday trend follower and ONLY enter when there's a clearly defined trend and on a pullback? This means not trading chop and it means you'll be out of the market a lot of the time just waiting for a set-up.

Need somewhere to think out loud,

Then the next day: I'm sure that if you searched this thread on "Finally", "Final" and "Perfect" - it would yield 10 pages of posts or so. SMA + SMA envelopes on one single chart/timeframe? Is that your entire method? Or is there more to it? I feel you're chasing your tail here trying to...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I remember that one now. And if I'm not mistaken - I think you also wrote at the end of that thread how the significance of the pattern had diminished recently. My memory is not always the best on such things, but I seem to have the impression that same day gap fills were more frequent in the...

Missed this one earlier. Did you see this gap below? :)

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

On the subject of gaps since I had some stuff up here. ES since early 2013: # Gaps Up = 733 => Closed the same day = 47,5 % # Gaps Down = 553 => Closed the same day = 51,7 % This excludes smaller gaps (+/- 2,5) and only counts a full close (excluding those -1,0 points from a fill days) - but...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Are you bearish beyond filling that gap? As for gaps - there are quite a few below that's unfilled way further down. So I wouldn't be bearish on that basis alone for sure...

    Where did the bears go?

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Probably not. I have a decent trading rig, different platform, but the same feed (IQ Feed) and I had the same thing happen. If I understand correctly - you're saying there's a gap where a trade has actually been transacted? Did you check the Time & Sales to confirm that there actually was a...

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Probably not. Same kind of asshole though, but does not appear to know anything about the markets.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

LOL! So, you read of a few out of the box indicators, tested them and you're not yet rich? What on earth were you expecting? You're the equivalent of a guy casually reading about brain surgery over the weekend and getting disillusioned when your patients starts dying the next Monday.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Well - how do you know for certain that the markets would not have been down regardless of the Coronavirus? Is it possible that the markets were due for a sell-off anyway and that it was only exaggerated by this particular news item? I for one predicted last week down 1-2 % and it was a pure...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Facts: Since the bottom in 2009 - we've only had 4 corrections exceeding 15 % where the two largest was approximately 20 %. All of these corrections were followed by higher prices. This is not my opinion. It's a fact. Too many people are fixated on the idea of the markets having to break...

    $2,000 to $200,000 in 2020 at 2.00% per day.

I'm bringing this up also because this was not true for myself in the past and I made the same mistake. I was a participant in a chat room with an allegedly great trader many years ago now. Truth be told - I don't really know if he was or not. But I remember more than once changing my opinion...
