long term position trading -primarily etf's-

Wednesday , is the big day with the FOMC rate decision. Most may look at very strong PA in emerging markets and a weak dollar and point to a dovish fed from the last meeting. So, will this change Wednesday or will the markets take away a continued green light for risk? We will see what the...

Yes, bullish and TMV (bullish rate trade) may be worth a look. Pretty strong PA today. People point to the positive surprise in housing data to explain this. Long rates and stocks for follow through seems to line up.

Have a look at the 60 day performance of these Europe theme etfs. Fxe. -5% Fez 4% Hedj 9% HEDJ is roughly the net of long FEZ and short FXE. To an IB account with USD base currency it is effectively two directional positions, not a hedge. You have no currency risk. If you did the...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

There are better markets for risk than the US as we speak. Seems recent capital flight from emerging markets has ceased with the recent action of USD and rates. All these peices fit together and the US is likely to continue to underperform if you beleive that a trend can continue. Of course US...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Everyone knows there is zero risk priced into this market and a caveman can do it. Is it possible that that Greece may default, the EU is not irreversible, Greece is not totally isolated? Planners have not allowed rates, Greece, or any economic data to upset stock or bond markets since...

There has been macro theme that is now being talked about more for 2015 so its old news but one doesnt know. Emerging markets( most anyways) are ln a good run relative to US markets. With US rate hikes pushed out and weak US data, the dollar has weakened recently. Low rates and weaker dollar...

So when another August Factor type period happens and they cant figure out whats going on, or which venture is collapsing, can they ask Bernanke to contact some friends and find out. Can a sitting fed reserve bank executive actually tell Bernanke what they know? Say it aint so.

QIRP Does Not Work And Rebutting Bernanke’s Defense Of Himself

The fed can unwind reserves in the case of both Open Market Operations and QE. However the money created from those reserves prior to the fed reducing those reserves remains. Sort of like a plumber stopping a leak in the basement and calling it done without dealing with the 6 feet of water in...

You may need to find the present Dollar Value per Basis Point (DV01) to properly neutralize all Treasuries spreads. Each note and bond has a unique value that does change over time and price. Google convexity as well.

explanation of QE and its effect on the economy

Aside from fed policy I am comcerned at the large increase in the component of the money supply that is M3. This grew at about a 9% yearly rate from 2005-2008 and of course the fed stopped tracking it in 2006. Granted a few trillion of this was lost in the financial crisis but it appears to be...

Can Short Term Trading Be More Profitable Than Long Term

Good exits seem to contribuute to good results. Not scrutinizing entries endlessly helps. Daily bars trader should allow some flexibility in an entry "area" . Sure to break even over time if exit for no good reason while price is actually running. As well, no good reason to hang for a 50%...
