    TTT, Your situation is no different from mine or any other person. If you don't want to lose money, stop losing money and trade paper/sim and practice until you prove to yourself you can trade profitable consistently.

    TTT, I always have a max dollar amount stop loss I use that will not cause me emotional issues throughout the day or week.

    John9999, Good point. Nothing is perfect and you have find what fits your personality. Stick to your fixed stops and profit targets if that is what you are comfortable with. I would stick to 2X ATR as well. That should be a wide enough stop loss.

    I agree with qlai, If you are day trading on a 5 minute timeframe, you should have an idea where to place your stops and target. Per trade, my stop loss and profit target is whereever the chart shows me it needs to be. No need for ATR, when my eyes already see the ranges.

    Very good point. The mindset issues occur with me when I have no clue what I am doing when trading and not confident in what I am doing. If I knew I how to make money trading and I proved it to myself. I wouldn't have any mind issues cause I know the overall odds of winning.
