You are correct in some things you wrote, but the situation you described above can easily move the market 4-5 ticks, and this could be enough for sort term traders.

I am not sure I understand your question. DOM has nothing to do with transaction costs. The purpose of DOM is to provide information that helps in filtering trades that have low probability of success.

A bit of technical info for Ninja & IB combination. Do not connect to IB until market opens. I and few other people experienced issues such as incorrect market depth if connected before market opens. It never happened if connected after the open. Regards, redduke
