If you are managing big $$$ don't you need to be smart enough to outwit the "cabal on the floor"?

The Geniousness of Paul Tudor Jones

Ranks as one of the all time bests. Has played large and has been consistent. Very few in the same league. I'm told by people in the not-for-profit world that his foundation is super impressive -- well run, results oriented. Not just, well let's put on the dinner jacket and take Betsy to the...

    Increasing Size During Drawdown

And I answered the damn question at the time: Swan Noir Registered: Jun 2009 Posts: 1697 05-14-13 05:12 PM We all ran the numbers. The vast majority of traders we know that do it blow up.

    Increasing Size During Drawdown

I think the point of some of these posts is that there are Martingale like approaches (not full Martingale) that are exposed that we all know are weak risk/reqard plays even if they "work" for awhile.

    Slippage/Market orders on ES

During RTH it is one of the world's most liquid markets. There are scores of participants bidding and offering hundreds or thousands of contracts within a few ticks of current market. The equation is simple. There are both buyers and sellers from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm. News can change that...

Does anyone feel like this economy is full of expendable jobs?

No one outside of a mental institution can possibly believe this. God knows the system is deeply flawed but to even think this kind of approach will lead to anything but chaos and rampant poverty beyond anything we currently experience is just pure lunacy. GET A FREAKIN' GRIP, MAN!

    Best Mac laptop for trading

By the way I have never owned an apple product and am impressed by the following they have among many with real tech expertise. The Dell i5 works just fine for my limited needs and is so cheap.

    Best Mac laptop for trading

I'm no expert on older computers but just because you might be able to sell a four year old apple for 35 or 40% of what you paid for it (50% sounds a stretch) I would not assume that ratio holds. My guess is you could be looking at 10 or 15% (or even zero) on equipment bought today and sold 4...

Does anyone feel like this economy is full of expendable jobs?

I don't dispute that government policy and social norms push the normal skew in only one direction -- the wrong direction. Maybe it was 75/25 and is now 80/20 or was the 80/20 and is now 85/15 ... no precision here. Yes, there are tipping points and things are not getting better. But it...

70K tesla 7500 dollar kickback, socialism?

Fair enough. It is the corporate welfare wing of modern captalism.

70K tesla 7500 dollar kickback, socialism?

I don't think anyone is even pretending it's capitalism. It's clearly a flat out subsidy. It's crazy.

    VICE (HBO) Great Show

It's a very interesting show. I've all of them -- I guess three -- and they are all interesting. I've spoken to people I know that are in touch with Spain and Greece regularly and the level of stress in those societies is so much greater than American media reports; it can't be by accident...
