BitCoin - Intellectual Fraud or a Stunning Idea??

I can't believe that this insanity tempts me but it seems that it does. I guess when I look at a 4 hour chart and see any instrument move from 146.50 down to 91.20 in fewer than 20 bars it gets my attention. I assume I can simply throw up a few hundred and trade the damn thing to get a feel...

    When should you increase size?

Assuming you have a tested edge size becomes more a function of capital than anything else. If you have a million dollars liquid + an edge you are probably trading too small. If you entire net worth is tied up in a $1,000 account you probably are trading too large at even a single ES contract.

    Brokerage Accounts "Cyprus'ed" ?

There is a huge difference between a portion of your account being uninsured -- something you understand in advance -- and it being commandeered.

Can somone explain to me what horse betting and trading have in common?

That is simply inaccurate. In any given race any of the pools can give a small advantage over the other two as a function of the way the money comes in.

Can somone explain to me what horse betting and trading have in common?

Mav, I think you did say exactly this: Very few handicappers bet on horses to win. They bet on horses to place or show.

Can somone explain to me what horse betting and trading have in common?

Mav, no real handicapper goes in with a preconcieved notion of whether the win, place or show bet has the edge. Each of the pools is unique and segregated and as post time approaches they can calculate within a range where the advantage lies. Without the "order flow" into the individual...

    4% yield on checking accounts!??

I looked into it sometime back. Forget the details but the limitations made it a total waste of time. There was nothing of interest there.

Using Treasuries As Deposits In Trading Accounts

There have been numerous questions as to whether this works for those with primarily futures trades. Not sure if anyone really knows how this will be handled by SPIC in all circumstances. Not trying to pretend I know the answers here or looking for a debate. Just noting this may not be as...

A bit of backup for this would go a long way to making your assertion credible.

But in Canada (or the US) there are no such depositors.

Shorting Oil: Someone Tell me why not

Leaving all the narratives aside this is what I most agree with. Narratives mostly cost the trader money. The proper price action read mostly makes him money.

Shorting Oil: Someone Tell me why not

Yes. Syria has changed the equation quite dramatically. The refugee problem -- particularly in Jordan -- has layered in a whole new level of instability. It is bad enough that Syria itself is likely to mirror Lebanon soon with a multi-faction long term civil war but if Jordan falls as well...

Shorting Oil: Someone Tell me why not

But the here and now needs to take into account the Middle East. We may not need oil from that perilous region ten years from now but right now we continue to need it. That's why there is a constant risk premuim built into the game. If that premuim disapates we could see $75 crude pretty quick.

Let's talk about adding to winners

I don't think this conversation will prove fruitful unless everyone specifies the time frame they are speaking of.
