Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

Can you tell me what part of the IB site has changed to reflect this change? If it turns out that I need to do a number of SPY or other trades to squeeze in under the SIPC umbrella I will do that. Since I keep a much smaller amount of money -- which I regard "at risk" from a counter party...

Is anyone else worried about Penson Financial?

Rule One: The first moment you feel uncomfortable about where your money sits drop everything else and move your money by wire that day ... correction -- THAT VERY MINUTE!! Frank is correct ... do not wait, do not pass go, do not collect $200. If there is cash there wire the cash and...

Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

I know of one broker -- Interactive Brokers -- and there are probably others, that will sweep all free cash (not cash used as futures margin) to the securities side of your account. There you have SIPC insurance up to the stated maximums on cash and securities.

Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

This may b e the craziest thing I ever heard. Of course you can do something about it. Analyze how you trade, how much cash you really need at a low margin broker, how much you want to keep at IB in a SIPC insured position. Think! It almost always beats HOPE!

I'm not familiar with the grief involved on non-dollar denominated futures contracts. Do you not get the 60/40 tax treatment or is it something else?

Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

Since IB figured out that for your non-futures-margined-cash they can sweep that cash into the portion of your account that is a securities account and avail themselves of the SIPC insurance on those cash balances ... and only those cash balances. I have cash that sits just that way at IB. I...

Who has the best Historical Tick Data?

Thank you for your help, Mr_You. I have decided to purchase the EOD package from Kinetick for $50 per month that gives me 120 days of tick and two years of minute data. Additional thank to Ray.

Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

I also use IB and, on my cash balance (not futures margin), I have the comfort of the sweep to an SIPC insured account. There is clearly value in that. I also use DeepDiscount/Crossland where I keep much smaller balances, have very low margin requirements and get great personal service from...

Who has the best Historical Tick Data?

Ray, thanks for the quick reply. Kinetick should really make that clear -- EOD minute/tick -- on the page you linked me to. It is a great offer and you and your partner should pump it IN DETAIL!! What I take away from what you said is that both this EOD and Ninja are free while I test.

Who has the best Historical Tick Data?

Is the free EOD download from Kinetick simply daily data or is it minute (or tick) data that is delivered EOD? Can someone tell me Exactly what the data is -- how far back, one minute etc -- before I download Ninja and connect. Thanks.

Crisis of confidence in the futures market

The CME should simply buy insurance and cover the risk. Then they should lower the obscene exchange fees. Then they should, like every other fixed cost business in the world, charge less per contract when I do a 10 lot then when I trade a single contract. No one bends you over like these...

C# Developer Wanting To Learn Trading Strategy Development.

I must be missing something. The OP posted a straight up barter offer ... and for all I know one that might take a guy from six figure coding to a seven figure (or more) trading career. I though there were traders here. The OP has put out an offer. Either it gets lifted or it doesn't...

Swiss Finance Minister:examing capital controls including negative rates

I was not suggesting taking up a collection to bail out the Swiss!! You are correct about seeing a very high standard of living throughout Switzerland; it has a great deal of accumulated wealth and a very efficient and industrious workforce at every level. Any country that can deliver mail to...

The begining of the end of the euro crisis

You are probably correct. It is that rare situation in the course of history where the civilizations that have led are now insolvent and unable to continue to lead. That said, time can be an important -- even the most important -- factor in how the shift occurs. Given some smart political...

The begining of the end of the euro crisis

We all know what this is about -- TIME! Anyone faced with a crisis that is likely to sink the ship figures out a way to prevent the ship from sinking in the next 20 minutes so they have time to figure out their next steps and time for circumstances to bail them out. This is a very large kick...

Swiss Finance Minister:examing capital controls including negative rates

Since I have never been to Geneva I would not know which bridge. And your quote (taken out of context) makes it sound like I know Geneva. Here is what I actually said: A friend of mine paid over $20 for a big mac, fries and a soda in Geneva over the summer. I am told that except for the...
