    Broadband Problem / Load Balancer

Winston / gaj ... Many thanks for the input. I am weak on the tech side and it will take me time to absorb this but I am sure in the coming weeks I will benefit. Again ... MANY thanks!!

Possibly The Best Article EVER Written On The US Economy. Spot On and Well Written!!

Exactly my take. If/when the economy comes back a few solid strides very few of these jobs will reappear. This part of our economic problem is systemic not cyclical. And, of course, that limits the legs the come back has.

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

This is a totally inaccurate representation of reality and anyone who understands the concept of Estoppel would get that SIPC does not get second and third bites of the apple. Once they are aware of how their insurance is being portrayed to the public at large and choose to not set the record...

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

UPDATE: When I checked my IB account this morning all funds (every last dime) had been moved out of the commodities account and into the securities account which of course is SIPC insured. I think the "buffer" applies only when you have open futures or futures options positions and I think...

Is anyone else worried about Penson Financial?

I never suggested it was not accurate I suggested it was meaningless crap. And, correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall a Penson director resigned in the spring of 2011 over what was a self dealing transaction of $42,000,000 with a Texas racetrack Are you freakin' kidding me...

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

That might be more likely if it fit the facts. There is no requirement that the cash reside in the securities account all the time or that it be used for the purchase of securities. The insurance applies WHEN it does rest in that account and does not apply when it does not. The claims we are...

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

    A) I do not believe the poster you quote has the slightest idea about what he is posting about ... and I mean NOT THE SLIGHTEST!! B) I should have been clearer and stated that the cash is only used for futures options on the futures side of the account. I do the occasional equity trade...

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

My guess is that during those times I am in cash -- 100% cash -- I can convince them that they do not need a buffer. I may be wrong and I may end up naked (without SIPC cover) on a small amount of money. I have two other futures accounts where I am already subject to segregation on fairly...

Is anyone else worried about Penson Financial?

This must be a joke!! No serious adult could have said this as if segregation is real protection. There are people out there who have never traded a contract in their life with an IQ of 90 that know better. Anyone who listens to such drivel and thinks it has meaning in their lives deserves to...

Like SIPC Protection? Set Your IB Sweep To Get It.

Interactive now has a section under account management that controls whether your excess funds get swept to your SIPC insured securities account (a good thing) or remain in IB's futures segregation account (no reflection on IB but a less good thing!) Historically all my free funds have been...

Which would you do in this trading situation

Trade it as small as the system allows but trade it and get the screen time in with real money up. Set daily and weekly loss limits. Understand that retreat is as valid a tactic as charge when you need to back off. Find out what you have and find out who you are. When you wait to live ...

When the boomers lose their pensions. That's when it will get violent.

I think recognizing, as denner clearly does, that 2008 is a continuing and unfolding situation is the key to understanding where we and the world are at. People talk about bubbles as if they are only about price increasing at a non-sustainable rate. Bubbles create opportunities for big, smart...

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

This is precisely where many people misunderstand Al's work. Yes, he is verbose and yeah his first book was written in ancient Sanskrit (his current writing is better) but his point has value. Price maters and it matters a great deal. He is not suggesting you trade most setups just...

The best investment advice you will ever get.

Yes, piezoe, I have observed Nitro's approach and he clearly knows where value lies. The most successful investor I ever knew -- a brilliant ability to sense what was coming into and going out of fashion in the market -- used a very different approach and one that was not tied directly to...

I found myself getting very tired late in the trading day. My wife suggested I get my eyes examined. I did and they changed the prescription. Problem solved.

    Bank recall of Mortgage

OK ... I will bore you with a third post. Hire a teenager to walk up and down in front of their branch or office. Make sure he has your number on a piece of paper to give to the bank officer that tries to convince him to leave. If he tells the bank officer he is not leaving until you tell him...

    Bank recall of Mortgage

If you want to win this next year continue to approach it as YOUR legal problem. If you want to win this next week make it THEIR public relations problem. I sympathize with the bind your in that is why I have said essentially the same thing twice. I won't bore you with a third post. Good...
