    Two mice on one computer...Y-Mouse?

That's interesting, I wasn't aware of that. However, a Yahoo search of "keyboards mouses" produces 600 hits, while "keyboards mice" produces about 586,000 hits. I'd suggest that common usage has adapted the "rodent" plural for mouse. And when common opinion weighs heavily in, that's where...

    Two mice on one computer...Y-Mouse?

First time I've heard it although we would on occasion say "Meeces" as a weak joke (I know, we're a bunch of geeks). Been a pro in IT since 1988.

    Stop these threads...

It occurs to me that there is plenty of room for a great many wonderful, interesting and enlightening posts by the great many awesome traders who are desperately bored of the top calling. EliteTrader is, after all, what the users make of it. Post some interesting ideas and spark a useful...

If you had to name one quality to succeed in trading, what would it be?

    A healthy dose of skepticism.

    Question for the Stats Gurus

Thanks for your help, Aaron. Yes, that is correct. There is a small (?) but negative correlation betweem minutes in a trade and profitablity. Yes, I trade with a profit target.

    Question for the Stats Gurus

BTW, Correlation comes out to -.31.

    Question for the Stats Gurus

Doing my year end analysis, and I think I may have found something meaningless. :D My profitable trades average about 17 minutes in length with a standard dev of 26.5. That means there is not a significant meaning to the trade length, right?

Who wants to be a Billionaire?

So do you have to go every year, or can you send your accounting and legal reps?

    Georgie thinks the economy sucks

It's got a slight economic flavor to it, so it stays in the Economic Forum. For the moment, anyway. I expect this will wander away from Economics by tomorrow, and I'll file this under chit-chat if that happens. If it stays on the topic of Economics, I'll be happy to keep it here.

    250K enough to trade with?

Thanks for the update, Speakingout. It would be neat if you could report here one year from the day your friend goes daily, on how he is faring. I'd guess 3:1 odds on him succeeding at DTing (which are higher than normal, BTW). Tomorrow a proctologist with a flashlight will show you where...

Man, "DoubleE" is way more interesting to me than bean counting any day of the week.

Tom Dashle Thinks You are an Idiot

Yeah, freaken Bush thinks holding the growth of the deficit to "just" double inflation (4%) is a huge goal. And all those thieves in Congress applauded. Geez.

    250K enough to trade with?

Ask your friend for advice for another person. This person says: Hi, I have made outstanding trades using this one swingtrade system. Money managers around the world would stand in a long line to give their left nut to achieve my results. Should I quit my job and start daytrading with the...

Tom Dashle Thinks You are an Idiot

This joker just said that an increase in the cost of health insurance is some sort of stealth tax increase. I guess he figures that government collects all the revenues for industry (which is the way he wants it) or something. Next thing you know, he's gonna say that the rising price of SUVs...

Earn a 62% return on your money between now and March betting on Dean

Sounds like a nice short to me, FWIW. When everyone thinks the market is going up, it ain't. Not that I am shorting Dean, I stay out of that stuff.

    The hacks are back

Seems like we have a smaller two-party system now. One party wants Big Government and are a bunch of tax-and-spenders. The other wants Big Government and are a bunch of taxcut-and-spenders. Geez. And of course, about half the country votes for one gang of thieves and the other half vote...

New Tech Products Mean New Tech Jobs

Seems like I keep seeing this point raised time and time again as some sort of predisaster indicator for the USA. Not to suggest that Waggie945 has been spamming (to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time he has raised this point). But, there are basic assumptions here that just nag...

    Exporting jobs

This thread has generally tread the admittedly wide line between Economics and Politics/Other, but now appears to have left Economics behind in favor of Politics/Other. So I'm moving it to Chit-Chat. If we had a Politics forum, I'd probably move it to that instead but seeing as how we don't. . .

    Should we self-insure?

What I think Saschabr is trying to say is that if the folks who run the markets let everything fall as specified (meaning the shorts are owed the money), then the whole thing would collapse like a house of cards. Take me for example. Suppose I was long 30 contracts with 60k in my account...

    Should we self-insure?

Imagine one is long, say 30 ES (that's ~$1,650,000.00 worth of S&P futures) and the Bad Guys nuke New York and Chicago, and Globex halts for 4 weeks. It finally reopens down 500 points (a tad less than -50%). That's a loss of $750,000.00 AKA three quarters of a million. Now the daily margin...
