Bitcoin is too volatile to be taken seriously

I think OP was referring to using BTC as a currency i.e. a medium of exchange for goods and services rather than a commodity for trading. In that capacity I'd say he's probably right until the exchange rate stabilizes more.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

Well that's always true. I don't think btc-e is particularly prone to this. In fact, even regulated, US-based futures brokers are prone to failure as I recall.

bitcoin bubble getting out of control...surging non stop. up over $600 now

Dollars are not "real" (whatever that means) and the Fed or any other central bank is not God and cannot impart "reality" on something. The perceived "value" of dollars or euros is wholly dependent on the psychological confidence of the currency's users. Look at the example of the old...

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

If you look at the USD/BTC quotes on bitcoinaverage.com, localbitcoins really stands out as charging the highest premium. That tells me that face-to-face transactions are surging as more people want to get involved and buy BTC. On a side not I found the slashdot article interesting: US...

I'm not sure why you'd need to encrypt your signals. Why not just use the usual username/password authentication to gain access to a members-only web page?

You should never use market orders in option trades; only limit orders should be used.

discrepancy between TOS and IB software

They are 2 completely different platforms and they get their data feeds through totally different mechanisms. It sounds like IB's data feed IP port is being blocked. If that's true then you have several options: 1) Tell China to please unblock that port (LOL) 2) Find a a proxy/VPN provider...

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

I actually like the Bitcoin movement but I've never purchased BTC before and I never would. All my BTC was mined back in the good old days when the block reward was 50 BTC, the difficulty was around 1M and you could mine with a graphics card. I'm a nerd and the whole Bitcoin mining thing was...
