curious whats all this early volatility from (ES)?

I think if you spend your time trying to find exactly what is moving the market and when and why, you will be wasting much of your time. Some technicals will say XYZ, some fundies will say ABC and some days they line up, some days they don't. Some days econ news moves it, some days it doesn't...

Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

linear brings up a great observation - if you are following the trend frosty and Wed's move was down, up a tad, down more, repeat process is your bot best positioned for straight up/down days or what kind of conditions? That's an important observation linear made b/c if the trend following bot...

curious whats all this early volatility from (ES)?

Exactly - who cares why if you are a daytrader. There's a millions reasons why we are seeing this action and not one reply is better than any others. Just trade what you see.

    Could FIFO get bent?

skip - It would be nice to know that someone is monitoring the CME to ensure integrity. Perhaps the CFTC and/or NFA do this. That is a valid point. As for the algo being manipulated, we will never know unless something big happens - disgruntled employee, fund(s) that make some allegations...

IntercontinentalExchange wins trading rights for Russell equity indexes

Yes, I am sure the heads at the CME are scratching their heads on how they let AAA's posts about them buying ICE get thru the cracks! :D Or they just make another product that will compete. And that's what they announced today.

Prop firms that offer remote futures trading?

Just curious - why would you want a remote futures trading prop deal? There's plenty of leverage and if trading remote, you're not in it for the office and camaraderie, so why the need for a remote futures prop deal?

IntercontinentalExchange wins trading rights for Russell equity indexes

Coincidentally, the CME had an announcement as well: CME and S&P Announce New E-mini Small Cap Stock Index Futures Contracts http://cme.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=press_releases&item=333 Hmmmm.... A small cap E-mini... why would they do that? ;) My guess is that this new E-mini...

    life settlements

Is there still a market for these? I will always remember when I was a broker I have a client 'invest' in these - the husband and wife each 'bought' one. In case you are reading this wondering what they bought, they basically bought the right on these contracts who were on peoples' lives...

    making money in futures

I disagree. A trail stop has never worked for me after many variations. It's not the best in my opinion. It may work well for you, but saying it's the best is just another opinion.

MC works fine for me. Guess it depends on what you need. They have a trial, so test it out for yourself.

spectre - thanks for sharing. One question - can you post some of the same charts in a candlestick setup? I'd be curious to see how these setups look with candles since I am a candle trader.

    Nba Playoff Time

The Cavs had a great run and it was a lot of fun for Cleveland since these kind of things don't happen to often. Hopefully this will be the start of good things to come. Next year's NBA season should be an interesting one. Not sure how much the Cavs can do in free agency since we have some...

    Mobile Broadband Fast Enough?

The weird thing grew is that it will do this even when I am not on the service but the card is powered on. The green light will be on indicating it's ready to go and then it will start to flash and turn off. I am not connected to the service as this is my backup, but it's frustrating b/c some...

    Review of TraderDNA.com

2 - quite simply, I do not have the time or desire to construct some basic excel sheet that will do 1/50 of what a professional software package can do for me. I'm sure I could create something in Excel but that sounds like a lot of work when something is readily available. I have not signed...

    Mobile Broadband Fast Enough?

I use the Verizon USB720 as backup and it's nice. Having it as a USB device allows you to use it on any computer as long as you can get to a USB port. The one problem I have with it is that at times it just randomly shuts itself off and then sometimes turns back on. If not I have to unplug...

    Review of TraderDNA.com

I guess that's all relative b/c for 100 bucks a month or whatever to be able to pull reports on my trading instantly with analysis I can't do on my own seems well worth the business expense. Finding just one common characteristic that is causing losses or gains could pay for itself over and over...

Since you must be a qualified investor to invest in a hedge fund, I think it's safe to say that Tim's book is much more appropriate for the masses on ET. :p

nx - wow, can you say jealous? Geeze... Nice post, thanks for sharing. I love when people give a 'compliment' but actually use that as a base to try to throw out another jab at someone. Very immature. I'm sure the next time Tim wants some advice on how to handle a CNBC spot...

    making money in futures

I would say taking 8 ticks, or 2 ES pts, is a nice little setup myself. I see nothing wrong with doing that over and over if you can do it with consistency. We all like to catch those occasional 15 pt moves on the ES, but they are few and far if daytrading.
