Great points Os, I don't use arbitrary stops either and it's hard to tell if JJ does or not. He may have just given some basic guidelines.

I prefer the blue - grabs your eye and is easy on the eye. On the bookshelf, I'd imagine you want something to try and grab an eye and I think blue does the best job of this.

Well, there you go - read this entire thread and you realize it's all guesses and speculation why something happened. No one knows for sure. It's probably a combo of everything! I'm not sure how or why this is useful for a daytrader, but it's entertaining reading all the guesses!

Give something time to actually work. Treat trading as a business and it can pay you like one. Treat it like a hobby and it will pay you like one.

The market went up b/c there were more buyers then sellers. As to why that was, who cares? You'll never know for sure, it's all speculation. And if you did finally find out, what use is that now? If we were on a long-term buy and hold forum, sure let's debate. But this is a trading forum...

If you only trade counter-trend, that's what can happen. The good news is that days like today don't happen often. The bad news is that you don't know it's going to be one of 'those' days till after the fact.

I think it's safe to say that you are NOT trend following. If the bot was, today should have been a major pay day. Today is what a trend following bot should have pounced on.

pd - you are quoting Bob Green quit a bit. Did you contact his firm and they provide these suggestions to you or was this a local CPA? I ask b/c if you are going to go off a Bob Green book, I would hope you are smart enough to contact the author about this book and not some local hack.
