I should have made 324,000 last year.

cash, you are way too young to park your cash into a savings account. If you want to lessen your fees dramatically, just shift it into index ETF's and let it ride. The market has ALWAYS gone up over time. And that's what you got - lots of time. Reinvest any dividends, gains, etc. and just let it...

Thanks for sharing gun! You've got a great memory in remembering all those hands after the fact!

How much time do you spend trading ?

Assuming you are just looking to trade a small amount of contracts, the ES is plenty liquid just about all hours, and esp into the pre-market hours. Just pull up a dom and see for yourself.

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

Well, let's see... this is a public forum and 71 has CHOSEN to reply to my questions. That tells me he's interested in at least providing some help and guidance, which is the fundamental premise of a public forum. You can take just about any thread here and tell them 'pick up the phone' or...

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

So the question then is, how do you get the paperwork started for the ECM?

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

71, That's great, thanks for the info! So as long as you make 25 rt's per day on average, this seems like a no brainer. The small up-front fee is nothing in cost savings over the long haul. I guess the only catch is if you fall below the quota and have to reapply again.

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

One more - once you pay the $1750, do you pay that every year or quarter or is it just a one-time fee assuming you meet the 25 rt's per day quota? Are there any other fees either in the beginning or ongoing? And is that 25 rt's regardless of the amount of contracts or just 25 rt's? Can I...

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

Thanks 71, I think that answers most of it. One last question - can you trade @ any FCM then or just certain ones?

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

The CME website isn't that clear (at least to me) in what the costs are to have a membership. What I mean is, what is the startup, ongoing and then trading costs? Can you trade with any FCM or certain ones? I'm trying to figure out at what point should someone consider a membership and...

Cost Structure for CME Futures Traders

Thought I'd give this thread a bump to see if anyone has more info or suggestions on this topic. I've contacted the CME and will post here what I found out.

    Bye-Bye IB, Hello Open ECry?

No problems here with OEC's data feed during slow, normal or fast conditions. I don't use their charting, as I use their data into Multicharts as well.

1st Job - Financial Services Representative - NEED YOUR OPINIONS

Northwestern is one of those you can make a ton of money or not type firms in my experience. Since the focus is on life insurance, it's not the easiest firm to work at. For those that make it however, it can be lucrative, esp as you move up the ladder and eventually get your own practice...

1st Job - Financial Services Representative - NEED YOUR OPINIONS

cks - I was a broker, while not at one of the 2 firms you have narrowed your search down to, but in my opinion Northwestern is mainly a life insurance shop, regardless of what they tell you. Prudential will be a little more balanced in product offerings; although neither is a powerhouse in the...

    IB intraday margin requirements changed.

There's still plenty of brokers offering $500 margins if that becomes an issue. Hell, I think Global has a $300 margin account as well.

Finding out where a bank puts its assets

Contact each bank and ask for some sort of balance sheet. I'm not sure about the large corporations out there, but small banks/credit unions usually have a list of all assets and liabilities available, upon request. When I was a broker, I would get these lists and prospect the small banks/credit...

Why were neither of these red hammers reversals? (pic)

I've read all of Nison's works, have his DVD's and have attended a live seminar and he has NOT said that candles are 'extremely unreliable' on intraday charts. As a matter of fact, the live seminar was built around daytraders. Not sure what Nison material you are referencing, but it's not...

Open E Cry's Day Trade Margins, Do they ever Change?

That's an interesting comment b/c I think the massive amount of data and markets to trade through OEC is pretty impressive. I mainly just trade the US indexes, so I guess all those other markets impress me, even though I am not trading them. I think it's nice that they provide a large amount of...

I believe this is the thread you will want to reference - http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80582&highlight=odd+tick+charts That's the thread I stumbled upon through an ET recommendation and ever since have loved volume based charts. They provide quite a different story...

Trader vs Financial Advisor; Passion vs Practicality

I agree with Hydro. What panzer said is terrible advice. It actually sounds like the advice my mom's husband, a very conservative accountant, told me before becoming a broker. When I left, I was making more money per month than he was, yet it was a bad decision. Assuming cal is younger since...
