    IB TEK Problems

Not in your lifetime. Why would they want to show their dirty laundry ? BTW: No one else does either.

Student Loans drying up!!!!! Good news

EXACTLY. And now a lot of families will be thinking twice about putting their "marginal" children thru outrageously expensive programs only to have them graduating jobless. This college bubble is now bursting as well.

    New software dev project

Yes. Most of these features are in Tradestation. I've estimated that product is built upon at least 1 million lines of C/C++ code. If you could write 1000 lines of tested code per day, that would be a 3 man-year effort assuming all goes well. You might be able to cut that effort by purchasing...

MultiCharts financial policy sucks and scary!

If it's a bank card, you should be ready for potentially having to discard your current card for a replacement. Many banks have a policy in place whereby any charge dispute can only be resolved by issuing a new card. This could be a hassle, natch.

    Tradestation for equities?

Thanks for the update. Yes, threading is definitely an issue with complex apps like charting and order entry. The code compatibility issue is also a bad one....and really there is no excuse for that one. The parser/interpreter should mimic the one in TS2000i at the least.

    Deadly in a bear market.

    keystone trading group

Great story and indicative of our current "culture" and "policestate" conditions in the USA. This ain't the old USA anymore. Too many laws, too many lawyers and where's the DE-legislators ? I know...no where to be found.

    keystone trading group

I don't quite understand....these guys have it pretty well run and well capitalized. Did you really quit because you weren't profitable with them ?

    Tradestation for equities?

BE CAREFUL. IB's datafeed is suspect for reliability....many complaints in the API forum by vendors like Buttontrader who can subscribe to several data feeds. The ability to enter orders appears solid however.

    Tradestation for equities?

Clearly, it's "sayonara" for Tradestation. Too bad....they had a good thing at one time.

    Fast Market quote lag

Sampled data feeds such as those offered by Interactive Brokers and Thinkorswim are the likely solution. Oh sure, they'll skip some ticks, but unless you have sub millisecond response-time, it won't really matter. The key is: the current prices will always be there. With unsampled data feeds...

    Tradestation for equities?

Yes, I have not researched Ninjascript in depth, but it could be an Easy Language replacement. Thinkorswim's super-reliable platform unfortunately has a very weak scripting language that is only about 20% of the power of Easy Language. Your other alternative is to purchase Multicharts which has...

    TWS Link and REQ_BAR_DATA Problem

Joe - you are a bit confused...re: 9.41 of the API is NOT embedded in TWSLINK according to the documentation. IOW, you can install API 9.41 on your machine and it would not matter. There is a timestamp provided in the callback. You'll have to use that time instead of the actual time. It will...

    thinkorswim charting?

The charting is good, not great. First, you need about twice the screen real estate compared to Tradestation. There is a confining limit to the number of indicators allowed on one screen that is split..something like 2 indicators in a subgraph. For best results, you should have one dedicated LCD...
