    how do you short?

You want to short a stock. 1st, your account needs to be eligible to sell short. If it is, you enter an order to sell short. The platform will check the easy to borrow list, to make sure you can get a "locate," and that you have the margin available for the risk of the trade. If that is OK, the...

    Best financial news channel

"objective financial news" might be beyond reach as every channel needs to point out issues to excess to get you to watch. I do find CNBC is entertaining and feel by watching I have a better sense of what's happening.

SPX fly spread order at IB now says limit+market?

Not that I know of. I think the ES/SPX/SPY vehicle for trading and hedging has become the standard. QQQ options are very liquid and multiple listed but a different tax rate.

SPX fly spread order at IB now says limit+market?

Correct, all the liquidity is in ES. Even NDX on the CBOE does not trade much.

SPX fly spread order at IB now says limit+market?

For just trading ES vs SPX, I prefer SPX. You have to trade twice as many ES options vs SPX and I think, in my opinion, there are more "customer" orders in SPX than ES. I can't verify that, but when you compare ES volume to SPX volume, given that SPX is 100X and ES is 50X, SPX volume is higher.

Have you ever dumped a Broker or Data Feed Provider for being Rude?

Wow, I'm not sure even if I had more details that I would know what happened. I can tell you that the orders you route to some exchanges, because of Reg NMS and best execution rules, might get re-routed. EG. NBBO is 4.00/4.10. I go to the CBOE and bid $4.10 for 100. However, the CBOE is only...

Have you ever dumped a Broker or Data Feed Provider for being Rude?

I've been in the business since 1981. Many women around me were treated with little respect by the other traders. I can't tell you why they felt that was OK, it's not. I have never noticed a female client treated that way. That's a new one.

Is iv skew the result of an error in the Black-Scholes model...

Sorry, I don't have blanket responses to trading questions that will not depend on current market conditions or will be the "best" answer that fits every trader. In fact, I was never a naked option seller or credit spread seller. I made markets to current market conditions, current prices and...

Yes, markets are often mispriced. But how do you know before hand which side to take to make money consistantly?

Is iv skew the result of an error in the Black-Scholes model...

These are not an either or to me. I would sell an otm put spread if I felt the stock won't go down. To make money buying the call spread, you need the stock to go up. You ofcourse can do both if your bullish. It changes the dynamic of each spread if you hedge the deltas with stock.
