Full-time Trading Advice for a 22 Year Old

Oh Lord help any who stray here, there is so much ignorance on this board. The OP explained that he was selling calls and puts. In that case he can - and he will - lose far more than the premium.

Who will win? If Trump has the courage to show up for a debate with Clinton, which is seriously doubtful, his chances of winning are 0.0% And he knows that.

    Rollover when useful?

Yes, I have shorted equity options and I was fortunate to have survived my margin calls when greeted with a black swan. I did so only because I was well capitalized. I paid very dearly for a lesson I will never forget. But, golly gee, if you would like to put your ass on the line as a public...

    XIV and VXX return difference

I noticed that as well, and at one point yesterday there was such a differential I thought I had a data problem. My only explanation is that none of the VIX derivatives are perfect instruments, and as VXX and XIV are already quite removed from the actual VIX, extreme moves in volatility...

    Critique my Brexit option play

Keep in mind that cash is a position. There is nothing wrong with taking a neutral position when you know that there's a significant event coming up over which you have no control. The decision to stand aside and not put on a trade is a sign of maturity.

How stop-loss work at the market open after Brexit result?

Agreed. I trade only long options when holding overnight. Unlimited upside, but limited downside. A built in stop. Last night I was long VXX calls. Why? My gut told me that with the strong undercurrent in outer counties leaving toward Leave, and the shooting in Germany playing into that...

    Basic Questions on IV

Nevertheless, your risk per trade is still 100% of your invested capital. Pop off a few of those in a row, and you'll understand why long options generally aren't a good substitute for the underlying in most equities systems. Yes, they have their place in special situations. But not in a...
