    BMT Elite Membership

WTF ... what homework? He could be a bigot? Of course he could be. He could be a child molester, part of a plot to torture and kill the Mayor of NY because he likes a big gulp with his burger or even a member of the infamous Illuminati. I agree that one or even all of these things are...

Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

I just saw the movie MONEYBALL on TV. I had seen it before. One of the major thrusts was that you simply must wait for your pitch. To do that requires a number of skills: the ability to foul it off with a two strike count to stay alive, the judgement that allows you to know the breaking ball...

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

Do these commision rates the OP talks about at other firms lead you to believe he is pushing through thousands of contracts a month and has any form of exchange membership: "They are two to three times as expensive as retail-focused shops like Think or Swim or OptionsXpress and about 10 times...

Velocity sold to Institutional Liquidity LLC. Stay or leave?

Howard is a great guy and runs a great IB with the right clearing firm but I can certainly see the appeal of the Leader Board. Very cool and informative feature. My bet is they will keep it all in place. That said I find Deep Discount a great place to trade.

    Big Move Monday?

If you had a stand by commitment from Goldman to take you out at break even if the trade somehow went against you or even to take you out with $5 in your pocket it is, as Mav indicates, crazy. Frequently the calculation is not about risk but about allocation of capital. Tying it up that way...

Velocity sold to Institutional Liquidity LLC. Stay or leave?

I would take a look at the reviews on this site for Deep Discount Trading if you are looking for an alternative. They clear through Crossland and their service is both friendly and efficient; except for GC very competitive margins, wide range of platforms and feeds on an unbundled basis. You...

Velocity sold to Institutional Liquidity LLC. Stay or leave?

Velocity was always severly undercapitalized. Chances are you are in better shape with the change from a counterparty point of view because when you were with Velocity you were in horrible shape. I kept a small account there years ago and was happy with the tech, the service and the people...

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

The the thread was about retail rates. It was never -- except for your posts -- about members pushing 25k turns. If you didn't want to be 'in a pissing contest" -- your phrase -- you wouldn't have upped the ante and thrown in a membership to jumpstart the contest. RETAIL! That was the...

Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

I've owned and run seperate businesses both in the states and a few Western European countries and during the hiring process you can smell it. I've seen it accross cultures and, of course, the syndrome -- if that's the right term -- is both real and all too common. It just wasn't completely...

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

lol ... do you really think you need 'demographics" to have this discussion? We were through the looking glass at 5,000 truns a month so now it's 50,000 in conversation. For a guy that doesn't want to have a pissing contest you are sure wetting the freakin' bed. With that I bid you good luck.

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

So, 5K gets you close to the $1.10. What do you think it takes to get to $1.10 on CL all-in? Are we pretending that 5,000 (or more likely a a few more) turns a month is not real volume for about 95% of those here on ET? If that is the pretense OK ... I'll go with it. As long as I know we...

Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

db, not sure if I get what Seykota is trying to say. Surely very few winning traders started with profits. Are you using the quote to talk about guys that simply think like losers and that is tough or impossible to change? I struggled for a long time before I had a clue. I look back on...

If you can't come to a number on your own take your profit and feel fortunate. Soliciting advice as you are doing is foolishness.

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

Brighton, I'm not trying to be argumentative but when someone talks about $1.10 all-in RT as expensive for retail it does not matter if the guy has 100 years of experience and a $20,000,000 account. Exchange fees make it impossible for a non-member. Once you commit to any form of membership...

    RJO Futures' strange commission schedule

Of course I'm thinking retail. The entire premise of the thread is retail and every post in it (save yours) is retail and I say retail in my post. So .. ya ... I'm thinking retail. Even as a member executing through a firm CL all-in $1.10 RT requires real volume.

Another pound of slime to add to the tons of accumulated slime of many decades of goevernment and semi-government entities.
