    Entering Without A Setup ...

I will be more specific tomorrow when I am more awake but I am very pleased with many of the comments in this thread. There are things said here that I have never before considered. Manana

    Entering Without A Setup ...

RN, It seems a number of people -- you included -- are equating an entry without a specific setup with "zero risk management". I did not intend it to be construed that way. BTW ... I have followed your posts with interest and respect over the past year. You not only shed light on subjects...

Where did the concept of "w/no stop" come from? Did I miss a post?

    Reversal or Breakout

Impressive numbers. Can you define or shed a bit of light on "tight entries"?

    Entering Without A Setup ...

While 95% of my entries are stop orders related to a setup I like there are occasional trades like today just after 3 pm when I sold NQ simply because it was moving down. The few trades I do without a specific setup are lucrative for me. My question is do some of you take trades this way...

    Globalfutures, Advantagefutures or Velocityfutures ?

For any large clearer to be "equipped" requires them to decide to do it. There is nothing to equip. I agree that their own self preservation is at the heart of a decision to require higher margins but that is quite a reasonable decision.

    Globalfutures, Advantagefutures or Velocityfutures ?

Devin, You need to learn something about the business you are in. What you have just said is 100% incorrect. The primary strength that Global has is that it clears through RCG -- a strong firm -- which in turn banks at Harris. Show these posts to management and ask them what they think.

    Globalfutures, Advantagefutures or Velocityfutures ?

Not the point. Lehman was in business for 150+ years in September of '08. In October they did not exist outside of a bankruptcy proceeding. I think everyone would agree that Interactive Brokers is a fortress and, if you can deal with their margin practices -- one of many sources of their...

Hello! Can some one give me some advice about day trading?

I got the clap once when I was a kid but that doesn't mean I think everyone who gets laid is an idiot. Are you kidding with this post?

Hello! Can some one give me some advice about day trading?

You seem to believe that .5% each way or 1% as a round turn is a reasonable commission rate -- it is not. If you could cut your transaction cost in half and then cut it in half again and then cut it in half a third and EVEN A FOURTH time it would still be way to high to show a profit...

    Limited Partnership

It is clear that the "pool" approach makes no sense for a few hundred thousand. Thanks to all. To be able to rule out one of two possible approaches with finality is a very valuable thing. With that a dead issue can anyone comment on the managed account route including which firms lend...

    Limited Partnership

I have the impression that at some firms you can allocate the trades according to a preset formula so you can trade 10 cars and have five go to account A, three to account B and two to C. Thanks ... your input is helpful.

    Limited Partnership

I take it from your comment that unlike many exemptions that can simply be relied on if you conform this one requires a specific filing that is not optional. BTW ... by focusing on the limited partnership structure as I requested you have made your answer valuable me. I already know that the...

    Limited Partnership

I am not seeking comment from the "average" ET member. I am hoping for a quick, costless read from one of the ET members that do have this type of experience. When it comes down to doing a deal I get the professional help I require.

    Limited Partnership

I have been asked by a few friends to manage a modest amount of truly speculative capital. It represents a tiny portion of their net worth and they want me to, as they have phrased it "put it in harm's way and shoot for the moon." I am very reluctant to do it but frankly there is a part of me...

Hello! Can some one give me some advice about day trading?

DO NOT BELIEVE IN "THE CONSENSUS". It is not tied to your success as a trader.

Did the sp futures go limit down today?

I am quite curious about these 5 seconds. An official halt? Something else?

NASDAQ will cancel all trades executed...

I am not trying to rub salt in what is a very fresh and undoubtedly painful wound but you MUST learn the rules BEFORE you play any game where there is financial risk. To say "I though there was a limit down in futures" without knowing anything about what your real downside is reflects a very...
