BitCoin - Intellectual Fraud or a Stunning Idea??

I could be mistaken, but I thought there was a video of one of the original designers of bitcoin saying he had already sold all of his bitcoins in the $2 range. I'm not sure you can say for a fact that the original miners ever thought the bitcoin value would be this high.

How do you deal with the IRS?

My taxes take me about two to three weeks to prepare and I have spent numerous hours building programs to make the process easier. No way am I handing off the nitty gritty work to a CPA. They'll charge me a fortune, plus I won't even trust that they are correct. If I ever have questions that...

IB form 8949 doesn't match Total P/L for 2012 Statement Period

You could sign up for a separate IB account for your long term investments. As long as the account #s are different, that would be clear segregation of assets based on long term vs short term.

IB form 8949 doesn't match Total P/L for 2012 Statement Period

If you declare "trader status" and the IRS doesn't call you on it, then you can denote which stocks are long term investments and which are trades. The easiest way to do this is to have segregated accounts for long term investments and for trading. So you get the benefits of long term capital...

From the article: In other words, "I'm just going to buy 12+ million shares of HLF and then announce it to the world after Ackman and I have had a very nasty public dispute, but that doesn't mean I'm going for Ackman! Wink wink!"

Nice calls on HLF. Are you putting any money behind these calls? This stock is so crazy I'm not involved.

    Annoyed

I wonder how Icahn would react to talking to himself. I'm thinking the result would be bloody. I sure wish when I announced that I had a position in a stock that it would shoot up more than 10% every time. I'm pretty sure that would give me enough of an "edge" to do pretty well.
