Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Sadly, I didn't follow my own rule. I didn't resist the temptation to go short. I thought I could pull a little out of it, but no, it went right back up again.

Sorry, that picture is barely legible. Here's another.

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

This is a similar example of a gold cfd that I trade that I got nailed on. Sorry, trade not visible. FXCM deletes them when trading day closes at 5pm EST. See that downleg at around 1 following a similar consolidation. Oops, it changed directions and went right back up again.

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Admittedly, I would have avoided that trade all together. As far as I am concerned, those are 50/50 trades. I have been bitten too many times taking the trade you just took. My rule is that if I missed it, I missed it. Be patient; wait for the next opportunity. But, I guess you're more...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Given the number of hours I put into this, I think I can do it in half the time. :D

averaging down and pyramiding; a problem which i can't figure out....

Emg, if you want to be able to profit nicely from something that is trading within a range, if you want to avoid the big hit, stealing all the accumulated profits, when if finally takes off outside of that range, you definately need a stop.

averaging down and pyramiding; a problem which i can't figure out....

I often cost average down into my stop, S. So if I have a stop set at -10, I'll buy again at -2, -4, -6, -8. In all cases though my stop remains at S. I've had a fair amount of success with this. This is especially effective when the price is bouncing around in a range. As it heads back...

Don't worry about Beau. By next year he'll be in a padded cell.

What are the largest fortunes ever made by INDEPENDENT traders?

Good. Because, I don't believe it is unreasonable to continue in the same way for the rest of the year, doubling again, and again to about $16,000. That's my year end goal for 2012.

What are the largest fortunes ever made by INDEPENDENT traders?

Do you believe me when I claimed to have doubled by initial $2000 account since the beginning of november, 2011, trading a gold CFD? It was rather funny feeling to be called a liar by bwolinsky of all people. Its a strange place, ET. Increasingly, I get the feeling that everybody is full of...

What are the largest fortunes ever made by INDEPENDENT traders?

I see. So you don't believe NoDoji's claim of a $90,000 scalping income with $10,000 of tradable capital, trading CL?

What are the largest fortunes ever made by INDEPENDENT traders?

HateTheRisk, isn't trading CFDs. As far as I can gather, he is trading forex. I don't honestly know which currency pairs he works with. When I feel a little more skilled, I will likely shift to oil futures. What NoDoji is managing with (CL ? ) looks rather interesting to me. As for...

What are the largest fortunes ever made by INDEPENDENT traders?

Atticus, twice since november, I have taken a small $100 account and turned it into $900 ( and promptly lost it :D ), trading a gold cfd. For an experienced person, why is it so hard to believe that $100 became $1000, $1000 became $10,000, $10,000 became $100,000 etc. ?
