Using a min of 40c to define each swing.... Avg intraday swing in CL is 50-70 ticks , avg number of swings greater than 40 cents is usually 7-12 , So if one is trading intraday one might think about taking profits or half off once you're 50+ ticks in profit. Typically 1 in 5 swings...

Depends on timeframe I'm looking at. If i play something off the 3 range or 10 second chart usually 10 ticks. 500 volume chart usually 20 ticks, longer trades 33 ticks . I risk the same amount per trade in equity percentage terms. timeframe and setup determine contract size and stop distance...
