    Accounts with multiple prop firms

I don't think there is a regulatory rule against dual registration. Both firms would have to agree and feel there is no conflict of interest. More importantly, both firms would have to include in the WSP how to monitor an individual that has dual registration. In practice, most WSPs say no...

    My Grandma's portfolio.

Many of these assets are highly correlated. It looks like at portfolio for someone looking for risk that might have higher returns during a time of a bull market. How will she handle the months where she is down 5%? 10%? Anything more than 20% - 25% in equities sounds too risky for most people...

    Long/Short margin

It depends upon what broker you go to as to how you're charge for shorts, but it has nothing to do with profits and losses. Some retail firms, charge to short stock on all short securities. Some only charge for the hard to borrows. You're charged based on the credit balance for the right to...

    The Perfect Prop Firm

You asked what the perfect shop would be to me. You asked the question. I'm interested in the tradition set up where a firm hires traders, pays them based on what they make. Or, I'd look to a Fund of Funds to get an allocation of capital as a Portfolio Manager. I'm also not talking at $50K. This...

    The Perfect Prop Firm

I traded my own money for a long time. So the situation I would look for would be for the firm to pass on their costs to me, their capital and a split between 35% and 50% depending on the level of assets I would have allocated to me. As for a draw, I would rather have a higher split, and...

    staying motivated and productive

You do sound burned out. I'm not sure what your finances are like, but you need to go somewhere, where you don't code, don't follow the market, just clear your mind and have fun. Come back, and try again. This can happen to anyone. Take a break....relax.

    Which exchanges can handle spreads

You'll need a platform that will show current live orders and allow you to filter for what you want to see. They only platform I know of that does that is WEX. It's a professional broker neutral platform owned by Wolverine Trading.

    Which exchanges can handle spreads

I said "see" because it's very difficult to watch the COB for good trades, because what you see is of marginal value to a delta neutral trading strategy that scans for "value." So, firms that have the capability, electronically scan the COB for value and when their electronic eye see value they...

Sipc coverage needs to go to 1.8m

That's not my understanding. Can you provide me with a link to a service that offers direct excess SIPC? Have you ever done it yourself?

Sipc coverage needs to go to 1.8m

Just so you understand, you don't buy the extra insurance, the brokerage firm does. It does not cover your account directly, it covers the accounts in general.

    Which exchanges can handle spreads

The ISE and CBOE Complex Order Books are the most active. The PHLX COB is becoming more active. Unless your trading an option that do a lot of volume on PHLX and AMEX like RUT, I would stick with ISE and CBOE. Also, on spreads, I would never send market orders. Remember, the complex order is...

    FAS vs FAZ

Try only end of day, near the close. I'm assuming we are talking about small adjustments. If it's a large position, consider a vwap order from 3:30 - 3:59, so your not trading at the close. You can get large MOC orders with odd pricing. You will have to be comfortable with the risk of not...

Why are weekly options so expensive?

AAPL vol looks close enough to me. It's hard to get an accurate IV on an option like that with 2 days to go. I would look to bet on earnings rather than movement over two days. If Turkeyneck feels the vol is too high, sell some if it fits your risk/reward. In my experiance, selling options...

    FAS vs FAZ

If you want to be neutral, stay dollar neutral. Every dollar not hedge for the next day, creates a theoretical long or short position unhedged.

Why are weekly options so expensive?

If it were a stock trading at $42.80, would you think the 43 strike call was expensive at $0.21?

Fill or show rule...10 or 20 contracts

I'm not sure what they're talking about. Each option exchange in the US, if you route your order to them through direct market access (DMA) has to either fill your order or show it, even 1 lots. When I was a market maker on the amex we had to show 10 up markets. That was a long time ago. Now, MM...

Sipc coverage needs to go to 1.8m

I agree. Even though SIPC is only meant to be a back stop to offer a basic safety to provide confidence to the system, I think $1MM would be a better target. SIPC could easily accomplish this. For many years SIPC has been well funded, so dues to SIPC members has been kept very low.
