Billionaire unloads most of his FB shares

Thiel had a $7bln fund and took it down to essentially zero (except for his own money) after a couple years of wipeout losses. A classic case of wanting to be right vs. making money. So I wouldn't take his trading positions as dispositive (always wanted to use that word - probably got it wrong).

The lost potential of mankind: 5.2 billion hours lost watching TV ads - every year.

Haven't watched tv in over a year (16 months actually). Find that when I do watch tv at somebody else's house, I start to get twitchy and want to open some other browser windows, turn on music, etc. But seriously, TV is a waste.

I think I'm going to regret calling this the "sure thing" thread. There isn't going to be much slack from posters if a sure thing misses. Sure thing #2: SCMR at $14.57 http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SCMR&p=W&yr=1&mn=0&dy=0&id=p22810809136 You all remember Sycamore. Anyway, it...

Jon Corzine is Considering Starting A Hedge Fund

I think in most cases like this the DOJ or SEC or CFTC don't go through with the prosecution because it would make the regulators look bad. Why wasn't Lehman or the Lehman officers prosecuted? Because the regulators were on site, looking at the books, approving the shady deals. They would have...

Jon Corzine is Considering Starting A Hedge Fund

I think that's the problem. He is said to be broke or very close. He put a ton of money into running for office and then into MFG right before the implosion.

Nyse Trades Between The Bid / Ask

Agreed which is why people talking about Herbalife as if it is doing something wrong is so tiresome. HLF has been in business forever, it's a legit business.

I have my money in the MLM industry so I agree with you to a degree. A ponzi scheme eventually runs out of suckers. MLM never seems to run out of suckers, so it is a sustainable business. But it is undeniable that much of the inventory is not sold to consumers but to the distributors, who may...

    Imminent meltdown: NSB Advisors

http://whalewisdom.com/filer/nsb-advisors-llc From $1363mm to $508m, a 63% shellacking. Some of that is redemptions obviously, but much of that is just losses.

I think you mean "would you wanna be long bonds here." No there's obviously a floor to the bond rally. Probably not bad advice on the mortgage either.

Glad to hear it, Oldtime. Because nothing says "secure financial future" than trading multiple forex positions at once.

We're already experiencing deflation, or at least something very close. Not a prediction.

Oldtime are you going to kick me off my own thread again? That was funny. Sort of like you charging me with irritability. Shouldn't you be trading the latest pips in the USD/EUR?
