    oil stocks ready to run

so what do the ETers think? Fakeout? Breakout? Peak oil fraud? $200 oil and self-driving natgas cars in 5 years?

    oil stocks ready to run

Oil is moving but the stocks aren't. The wrong-way traders are fighting the oil breakout. (if link breaks, here http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/streetools/indicators/putcall_open_interest_ratio.aspx?TICKER=USO ) The oil service stocks look to breakout of massive inverted...

ET a very good website. What are some of the other websites where traders can post?

One thing that's bad about twitter, as another person said, it's basically one way. There's a small number of people who have 10000+ tweets and all talk to one another, otherwise you're a homeless stalker talking to yourself.

ET a very good website. What are some of the other websites where traders can post?

stockhouse is good for canadian stocks (canadian stock markets are surprisingly active, plenty of interesting small stocks).

Can we make ET a better place?

Have you visited stocktwits? Talk about very little value. It's nothing but blowhards and frauds (Davian) touting their non-existent hedge funds.

A Bizarre Goldman Sachs Aluminum Moving Scheme Has Allegedly Cost US Consumers $5 Bil

http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/aluminum_historical_large.html#5years The warehouse cost is astronomical (12%), but the spot price is down and the warehouse stock is up, and the futures curve is in contango. So basically the metal is in short term oversupply, sellers are sitting on supply...

How good of a trader do you need to be to make a living?

The daily ATR on GMCR is $3, so the stop is about 7.5% of the average range. And at 5% of position value, the risk of ruin is high. When I look at Fri's bar, I don't see a reason why GMCR at $71 is any more likely to go in one direction than another. You put the stop around the previous...

anybody figure out the goldman/aluminium money making scheme

Goldman bought a warehouse full of aluminum and is sitting on it. Nobody's figured out how this is a brilliant scheme. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/21/business/a-shuffle-of-aluminum-but-to-banks-pure-gold.html The story of how this works begins in 27 industrial warehouses in the...

Can we make ET a better place?

The real problem is the lack of posters. Ghost town. I'd also like to see people posting real trades with real plans. I posted some trades in my trading journal and it was crickets.

    shooting the moon

Thought I would put this thread out of its misery by posting some stats on performance during the period of the journal, and then close it up. The journal started on October 13 2012, but that was a weekend, so performance results are from October 12 to July 12. The total period is nine...

    Patterns should self-destruct

Sellers know why they're selling, but buyers don't. And there are many reasons to sell, only one reason to buy. Bullish patterns exist as a way for traders to signal to other traders that there are no sharks in the water and it's safe to wade in. Bearish patterns are just the failure of bullish...

CEFs at large discounts to NAV

3% expenses out of 10% expected returns equals 30% discount. some of that is mitigated by cheap leverage (ie if 25% leverage generates extra 1.5% return (including cost of leverage)) but not enough.

What, you haven't developed your automated system for pulling $1000 out the market every day?

    log vs, regular charts

The other thing is that the base from Nov 12 to July 13 doesn't look symmetrical in the log chart, but it does in the arithmetic chart.

    log vs, regular charts

OK I figured out how to post these without links, plus added renko. log arithmetic Actually the Renko charts tell you a great deal - that the trend has been broken and a ton of volume has traded at these levels.

    log vs, regular charts

If you compare this log vs. arithmetic chart, in log the trendline is intact (high in Feb 12), in the arithmetic the trendline is broken. Is this a problem? Do you look at log or arithmetic charts? Log chart http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=PWE&p=W&b=5&g=0&id=p18028505251 Regular...

I am getting my butt handed to me on a daily basis!

I haven't read through this entire thread, but it looks like this struggling trader is now in the hands of Jack Murphy. Problem solved. ET comes through again. I can't imagine what could go wrong.
