Which silver contract are we on?

I was charting GSIK3 but beginning yesterday the volume dropped to nothing so I assumed it had rolled over to the next. I see in the list of available contracts GSIK3 (May), GSIM3 (June), and GSIN3 (July). M seems like the next logical choice, but when I opened it it had like no volume at...

Where do the price action trends change on this chart?

So you're saying an uptrend is confirmed after HH, HL, and then price breaking the previous HH? And then you wait until the next pullback to go long, which in this case is #5?

Where do the price action trends change on this chart?

Can you elaborate? How do you know if a LL is part of an uptrend or the beginning of a downtrend?

Where do the price action trends change on this chart?

I have heard different people say different things about the number of HHs and HLs or LLs and LHs that are needed to have a trend. Let's assume for the sake of discussion here that there are no double tops or bottoms. Here is a chart of price behavior: Each point has been numbered...

Let's talk about adding to winners

Is a new uptrend trend only formed following two HHs and HLs and a new downtrend only formed following two LLs and LHs?

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

If you follow my journal you know I don't believe price can be predicted. I figured this thread would be fun to look at tendlines and see if they do any predicting, and maybe someone who knows how to use trendlines profitably and has a history of making real time calls (as opposed to someone...

Let's talk about adding to winners

Can you give specifics? How do you know only if you're already in the position? How do you catch the top/bottom as near as possible to it? How do you know if it's a new trend in order to hold? In certain circumstances it can be profitable.

Let's talk about adding to winners

I've looked at that before, too, and come to similar conclusions.

Let's talk about adding to winners

And the thread got moved to a forum with low activity. Oh well :(

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

I don't know if that counts. I've seen price action charts where price goes through a line and then bounces off of it again. Is that line still valid? If resistance flips to support price has to cross it at one point.

Let's talk about adding to winners

I think everyone understands that adding to winners should be done with equal or smaller size, since adding bigger size will raise your average cost by too much and a small pullback will turn it into a loser. I know that Anek said adding to winners is the most powerful money management...

    Fellow losers. Do the opposite?

Holy cow 11% dividend! Sucks if the stock falls more than 11% in a year, though.

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Look at this. This price has been S and R many times, and even though silver is making lower lows, the last one was right on the line so maybe it's going to make a higher high now rather than continuing its downtrend:

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

Silver is making lower highs and lower lows on a 500 volume chart: Is this a downtrend? Should these pullbacks be shorted? But wait until the next post for another way to look at it.

This is what my chart would look like if I were trying to sell a course:

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

It's almost as if you're saying they're not reliable. I wonder if the price predictors know this? But seriously, that previous support is now acting as resistance for gold: And silver:

Why no prop firms for non "active" traders !?

    1. Some places may get rebates for a certain volume. 2. Here's how it works sometimes: when a trader sends an order, the firm takes the opposite site with real money. Since most traders will lose, the firm will make money. Each losing trader is told he is losing money and his "account...

Predicting gold and silver prices with trendlines and S/R!

As you know from my journal with live calls, I trade as if price is random. As you know from following that journal, I bought some USLV the other day and am thinking about buying some gold, too. Just for fun, let's try to predict the movement of silver and gold with trendlines and S/R...
