can you get the Greeks online for free?

Yahoo options, Scottrade, etc., none of these places gives Greeks. They just give bid/ask, strike, and volume. I think actually seeing the Greeks would be helpful to me. Thanks.

No way, I'd want a few million before I even considered long term positions on the ES.

daytrade QQQ or NQ and use AAPL for signals?

Why not pair trade them? This is a question, not a suggestion. I have no experience pair trading. Short the top one, buy the bottom one. Sell when they meet. (I think that's how it works).

is this a great country or what...

I quoted a post by adamm2. In that post, he attached this image, which shows an indicator called "SMI" which appears to make 100% accurate calls: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=2830179 Hence, that indicator looks like the holy grail.

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

Ok now I understand. Yeah, when I see "unlimited losses" I interpret that as "potentially more than you spent/end up owing someone money," such as, like you say, shorting stocks or uncovered calls. I was trying to figure out where the "unlimited" came in, like if I wrote my 120 call for my...

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

Oh. When I saw the risk/reward graph for a covered call, it showed potentially unlimited losses, so I thought I was missing something. But how is it unlimited? You've got the cost of the premium + what you paid for the stock. Even if the stock goes to zero, that's not unlimited. So what...

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

Wait, how do I lose money if price goes below the strike. If price goes below the 120 strike price then the owner of the call has the right to buy the shares at 120, but why would he want to? They're cheaper at market price. How do I lose money in that situation? Wouldn't I just keep the...

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

I knew it. Wait, what? Crap I didn't notice that. OK, new example for one that actually has some liquidity. ---------------------------------------------------------- April 120 call. Let's use the lowest listed price (bid) which is 11.50. So I have 100 shares of SPY @ 131...

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

I don't know much about options. I've been trading stocks and futures for years but have never been interested in options until just recently. I didn't know there was supposed to be a direct correlation between number of posts on ET and amount of trading knowledge amassed. I will talk to an...

Help me understand what happens here: writing covered ITM calls?

Ok, if I sell a call option then I get the premium. Ok say I own 100 shares of SPY. Looking at Yahoo's option chains, an April 85 call for SPY is $44.10 (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/os?s=SPY&m=2011-04). So if I were to sell that option, I would be paid $4,410, right? So if I just...

what is going on with QQQ, QLD, and Nasdaq today?

Yesterday's close was 55.71 according to Yahoo Finance. Today's close was 56.84 That's 2.02%. That's where the issue was I think.

what is going on with QQQ, QLD, and Nasdaq today?

    1) I don't think so http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=qqq 2) I thought QQQ followed the nasdaq. I understand little variances here and there, but I'm talking like a few percent difference, not a factor of 10 like here.

what is going on with QQQ, QLD, and Nasdaq today?

Nasdaq is up 0.24% QQQ is up 2.12% QLD is up 0.41% today? The rest of the ETFs are as they should be. Dow is up 0.41% DIA is up 0.40 DDM is up 0.77% Those three make sense. Why is QQQ disproportionally high today? I'm not complaining, I'm long QQQ, I'm just curious.
