    Inspiring video for traders!

There are actually very good, size traders that read certain posts and threads here but never contribute. I have signed well-credentialed clients with substantial trading accounts who have been members here on ET since the early 2000's but never post. They just abhor the trolls and punters and...

    Inspiring video for traders!

Well, since the TT Pro License and CQG with about ten live exchange data feeds will run you ~ $2700 per month, the sex might be too pricey for most.

    Inspiring video for traders!

Maybe someone invented a forum where membership required a legitimate trading account with an adequate balance to clear futures. Great business opportunity - filter out all of the hacks and trolls. Actual trading discussion with input from persons actually knowledgeable in the art.

    Inspiring video for traders!

Patently false in terms of my relationship with my clients. I have no clearing, broking, data provider, or any kind of 'haircut' arrangement either disclosed or not disclosed with my clientele.

I have resting bids for the Eurodollar Dec11-Dec12 spread between 0.40 and 0.60 for an average buy price of 0.50. This is covering a short position initiated on May 20 at 0.90. There was an earlier short position initiated on April 15 which was covered at 1.0. When the market continued to...

    When support and resistance fails?

Honestly - study Market Profile and shitcan Support and Resistance studies completely. Better reflection of how price action works to determine value areas in the marketplace. Only logical way I know of to look at S/R is over multiple timeframes - almost like Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Pivot...

    Double Dip For Sure

A certain administration's policy to intentionally curtail domestic energy development and to keep gasoline prices inflated for the sake of "alternative energy development" will ensure a one-term presidency and a historical status akin to Jimmy Carter.

Sovys - Sovereign Yield Spread Futures

Yep - they are about ten years too late on Germany vs. US. As of the past 2 years the correlation is about 65% daily close on close. Remember the yield curve futures product ? Nearly all of these new launches are doomed, but of course as long as you are paying a staff for product...

futures tick data - electronic vs. floor vs. combined?

All products and services are worth what people are willing to pay for them. For the monthly price of TT and CQG, and the differential between member and non-member rates, it is certainly cheaper to trade on the floor, and there is a very good reason for that.

futures tick data - electronic vs. floor vs. combined?

Any order flow going into the pits these days is akin to your feet in the shower - all they get are the dribblings and the unwanted run-off.

futures tick data - electronic vs. floor vs. combined?

Of course. Most of the guys in the pit are brokers who have long ago paid off their seats, and are nursing what little is left of their clientele. They are filling a small fraction of what they used to in terms of orders. Most telling point is the seat lease prices. The tough part of...

futures tick data - electronic vs. floor vs. combined?

Having traded some Nymex options quite recently, I can tell you from first-hand experience that the floor quotes in OTM WTI Options are ridiculously wide. Got filled at a much better price after showing them on the screen for a few minutes. FU, Raymond.

    curve flattening

I for one have been short Dec11-Dec12 Eurodollars since mid-April. I covered the second week in May, and then got short all over again on May 20. IMO it should be good for another 20 full tics. The clients I have who got short Dec11-Dec12 Euribor covered this Friday past (May 27).

That is a biased and inaccurate (IMO) presupposition. Most of those guys are arb clerks who have enough space these days to stand in closer proximity to their floor broker.

    Futures Trading and Initial Capital

Generally speaking, overnight margin requirements are set by the exchange and not the broker. Some brokers will offer greater buying power for day traders who offset and close their positions on an intraday basis, but they will invariably get their 'haircut' fluffed up for the courtesy...

futures tick data - electronic vs. floor vs. combined?

There is no justifiable reason to include pit trade tics if a product trades over 75% of it's volume electronically. Besides, pit tic prints are notoriously late and are frequently 'gamed' by the pit traders who are also using hand-helds.

    Day trading difficulties

I used to trade 400K round turns a month - since about 2007 I have completely turned face and now 'swing trade' much more. In my mind, stepping away from the HF 'turbulence' definitely has merit. Why play to the strength of the automated strategies ?
