It seems all the pros use Price Analysis and Noobies use Technical Indicators

Oh, I still trade every day. The fact of the matter is that the large percentage of my clients are experienced professional traders, and a few of my clients have made more money by their late twenties than I have made in a lifetime (and they got to that place of course before they hired me)...

Of course, the Big Dick will say this is a fraud as well. Was posted in the "Engineer looking to make a career change into trading (PART II)" thread just a few minutes ago.

    Historical Data Anyone??

Order data from the CQG data factory for the GovPix. They will ship it to you on CD, or alternatively they will email it to you in a Zipped File Folder. You will probably have to specify cleaned data in an ASCII format or something similar dependent upon what you want to do with it.

wanna do a couple of contracts on Brent/WTI

First, please look up the performance bond margin requirements on the CME or ICE-Europe website - it is not a cheap trade to margin. Secondly, it is a pure divergence trade; fading it is certain death.

How does one become an Energy Trader?

Energy and Metals are the hottest market spaces in terms of a trader developing a 'marketable' career, no doubt about it. I think you get your foot in the door any way any how; that could be day trading CL with a $25K retail account and developing a track record, or getting into a commercial...

10 Years Later, How Bush-Era Tax Cuts Changed America

If all of this were actually true, then how is it that General Electric skates completely on income tax in the US, where the corporate tax rate theoretically is the highest in the industrialized world ? And Jeffery Immelt chairs President Obama's business roundtable ? And GE got yet another big...

Engineer looking to make a career change into trading (PART II)

User, 1. I don't take newbie traders as clients. 2. I turn down far more prospects than I take as clients. I am not building some sort of online trading academy. 3. I have many, many very satisfied clients who are also ET members. I let prospects contact them and ask questions...

With the shorter duration instruments, you will notice than generally speaking the DV01 hedge ratios will change more frequently because the CTD changes more frequently and the lower number of coupon payments of course really amplifies things.

Calling a top in oil.. quite possibly

It is a de facto stock market trade with a healthy element of geopolitical 'flight-to-quality' risk added. The OTR two year, daily close-on-close correlation between the S&P 500 and Nymex WTI contract is + 92.5 %.

"Cyclical methods in technical analysis, for instance the Elliott Wave Theory, function especially well on paper. Calling a top in oil.. quite possibly

It will come off if the economy slips and the stock market continues to sell off. Look at the last half of 2008. The big problem with an extended stock market sell-off is the hunt for yield. We could linger with unemployment around 9 % and the S&P might range trade between 1000 and 1300...

NYMEX CRUDE: Issue of NON-BONA FIDE Bids & Offers

I did not have the order book up (just spreads), but IMO that was a stupid fat finger that will stand. Tomorrow morning they could have gotten that done using the ICE Swaps or ClearPort as a block trade at one price. Easy.
