Average of 5 pt a day trading ES realistic?

Well, the ES margin is about $2,800. You are looking to make 8.92% daily profit. That means is that you are planning to turn $2,800 into about 6 trillion in one year. That's about half the U.S. gross domestic product.

    Hmm, how about this: long 1 NQ 1775.00 stop 1750 $500 - risk $2000 - reward

    Odds of predicting market direction

About the same as the odds of flipping tails 10 times in a row.

    IB Chronic Data Feed Issue

But according to dst, futures can have the same price levels in more than one row of market depth, and it's not a bug.

    IB Chronic Data Feed Issue

Well, with the SPY as it's shown in the TWS Market Depth Window, this makes sense. Multiple market makers (obviously distinct ones, as indicated by their names) may bid the same price level and may offer at the same price level. But with the ES contract, the TWS Market Depth Window shows only...

    IB Chronic Data Feed Issue

So, this means that no TWS upgrade would be required, is that correct? When is the "backend fix" expected to take effect? So, in this case, why is the granularity evident on the bid side, and not on the ask side?

    IB Chronic Data Feed Issue

dst, Can you please indicate which TWS release will contain the fix? Also, can you confirm that this fix would address the market depth problem as in the attached image? I believe this is a corrupted DOM as there should be only one price per level for the ES Globex contract. Thanks.

newbie question: how the order is matched in stock market?

It's really simpler than what you seem to think. You bid at $100 and offer at $101. I submit an order to buy at $101. The trade occurs at $101. What's the mystery?

Turning $27K into $1,000,000 in only 9 months...

It looks like your average trade is about $18 ($49600 total profit divided by about 2700 trades). Is that correct? How did you manage to make 2700 trades in just a few days? Are you running some sort of automated trading system? The other thing to point out is that your broker must be...

Adventures in the garden of good and evil

I am listening to "Thirteen Moons" while driving. It's a book on CD. Ever since I've discovered that I could listen to books on the road, driving in traffic is a joy. Sometimes I wish there were a congestion on the highway, so that I could get a bigger piece of the story.

Dow will close up tommorrow 3/3/09

    That's not a proof, but a conjecture.

    C at 2.16, BAC at 3.91...

According to my calculations, if both C and BAC go to $0 (and everything else stays the same), the Dow would be only about 48 points lower. This surprisingly negligible effect is due to the fact that the Dow is a price-weighted index.

Today's selloff feels laborious, for the lack of a better word. I am long from ES 778 as we are heading toward the close.
