[IB] Freezing your account for their benefit

I'm glad that you brought up this point. It really applies here and I for one am a better person for reading it.

[IB] Freezing your account for their benefit

I have found that creating new ACH instructions at IB, as compared to new wire instructions, does not flag your account for review at all. I know that I was called personally after a new write instruction was submitted but didn't hear a peep when I set up new ACH instructions. And it turns...

Fat fingers-Keystroke errors: How to deal with it...

Yes, but if these mistakes happen with frequency like the original poster implied, then there are steps you should take to limit them. To not address the problem would be less than smart.

[IB] Freezing your account for their benefit

I've read more than one thread about IB being a nightmare if you screw up your wire instructions. I always quadruple check anything dealing with wires with IB now. Otherwise, it appears your request falls through their automated processes and lands in a black hole. Obviously IB could do...

The Dementia of Rich Guys that Marry Pigs

Your rational answer clearly doesn't belong on this thread.

    Double check everything.

And I would bet the ranch that you are IB bashing once again. Please cancel your account and stop the whining.

A Search for a Very Special Indicator

Yes, I show my pet a chart of the Dow before I go to bed. When I wake up in the morning, if my pet is sleeping: 1. On its side: I go long. 2. On its tummy: I go golfing that day. 3. On its back with paws in the air: I go short. Has never failed everytime I've used it.

Man Tries to Break Into WARREN Buffett's Home

Or could it be that he is put in the spotlight because of the company he runs (i.e., the media will gravitate towards him) but that he actually is frugal.

Man Tries to Break Into WARREN Buffett's Home

Maybe instead of giving your spare change to homeless people on the street it would be more effective giving it to the Bill and Melinda Gates charitable foundation. You can do your due diligence here: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/default.htm

Man Tries to Break Into WARREN Buffett's Home

Maybe Buffet was waiting for the right charity to donate to as this article states: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/5115920.stm Because someone has a lot of money and is not using it does not mean they are "flawed immensely." There are many reasons why sitting on cash makes a lot of sense...

Man Tries to Break Into WARREN Buffett's Home

So you are saying, once you reach a certain level of comfort in your life and have more money than you need, then you should expand what you need. Doesn't make sense to me. I would say people who let money influence their lives to the degree you want them to are sick.

Why don't you give all your money away then?

    IB auto liquidation

I am pretty sure IB's system is set up so that you cannot initiate a position that would immediately give you a margin call. Once you get into a position and it goes against you, then you can receive a margin call. Is this not correct?

    IB auto liquidation

Auto liquidation only happens during normal market hours. I am not sure about your corporate bonds - hopefully IB's auto-liquidator would liquidate positions in order of liquidity available. But this is just theoretical anyway, since you won't get auto-liquidated tomorrow. If your account...

Man Tries to Break Into WARREN Buffett's Home

Once you have reached the lifestyle that you are comfortable with, then any money beyond that point is merely a safety net so that you never fall below the lifestyle that you prefer. For you to suggest that all people share your concept of a great lifestyle is idiotic.

    IB auto liquidation

Yes, but then why would IB allow the trade in the first place? IB always displays a dialog box saying "trade rejected because of margin" when you try to place a trade which requires too much margin. It seems like this trade was allowed initially because it did not violate margin limits. Only...

    IB auto liquidation

You didn't get caught in IB's auto liquidation. That email was an automatic warning sent out by IB's margin software. It does not mean you are going to be liquidated. As you said, there is no reason your account should be liquidated. Don't worry, it won't be. Auto liquidation would mean...

    Bernanke Is Clueless

I don't agree on your conclusion of food prices. I guess at the end of the day I would prefer this country to get hit hard now and then emerge stronger later, rather than just feebly get by like it is doing now. I like how people say "save the homeowners" when in fact these people are the...

    Bernanke Is Clueless

Substitute the price of food if you wish. It's all the same. I'm sure you can agree that as the value of the USD decreases, inflation in all areas of life is a byproduct. I want interest rates up higher to protect the dollar which will in turn curb the current inflation predicament.
