But from the short history I've seen, this is what happens when you are overleveraged and other people know about it. It has always happened and will continue to happen (LTCM, Amaranth). To act like the rules changed or this is some big surprise is just ignorant.

Old Fart Bubble thoughts...no, not gas, China. :)

They just need to use their newly issued credit cards. I'm sure Capital One would be willing.

Old Fart Bubble thoughts...no, not gas, China. :)

Estimate of 1.3 billion Chinese. That would mean there are 1,300 days, or 3.5 years, before all Chinese people have trading accounts.

Did I get screwed by IB today ?

Just because this has been your experience doesn't make it a reality. Regular stops work fine for many, but not all, types of trading strategies.

    Another huge rally today

You're an expert at everything. Man, you're awesome.

Did I get screwed by IB today ?

Bid/ask stop works as follows. Suppose you have a stop at 18.00 and you are long. Then as long as the ask is not < 18 (it might be <= 18, not sure), your stop does not activate. So if the stock is 17.95 x 18.01, your stop is not activated. If it is 17.86 x 17.96, then your stop is activated...

Every morning at 9:24am EST, IB forcibly logs me out

Just to clarify, I am equating a pinkout to a logout. Also, I renewed my lease through my router at around midnight last night and I had no problems this morning. Another note: I believe "ipconfig /all" is showing my local IP lease, not my router lease to my cable provider. So thanks...

Did I get screwed by IB today ?

I have always used the double bid/ask but placed my stops a little tighter than I normally would with last prices. I.e., you know you are going to get slippage with double bid/ask so I adjust accordingly. If I were you, I would play around with the stops and figure out which type suits your...

Did I get screwed by IB today ?

You should have read how IB handles its Nasdaq stops before you tried out the stop orders. You have the option of specifying stop triggers based on bid/asks or last prices. I guess now you know and since you seem to want last price triggers, you should change your orders to use that method...

    Cramer's mad money

You can't just tune him out because he moves stocks so much. That is what is so aggravating about him. Plus the fact that he takes credit for all his pumps that work and for the ones that don't he says "you should have bought a week later." Can't have it both ways.

Every morning at 9:24am EST, IB forcibly logs me out

This sounds like a probable explanation. How did you verify that this was the problem? Is there a record when DHCP renewal takes place? Thanks for the input.

Every morning at 9:24am EST, IB forcibly logs me out

Ok thanks. Had two more mornings of a forced disconnect in the 9:20am - 9:30am range. Today I was not disconnected. Is just odd.

How do you automatically download monthly statement from IB?

I used to have a program that would log in for me, go to the statement pages, and download all the monthlies for a given year. However, it was pretty hacky and involved sending characters to an Internet Explorer window. It stopped working at one point and because of how complex IB's web pages...

    The problem with IB

I have not investigated other brokers very much. Most don't have APIs. The ones that do usually pass along exchange fees on each order. Since I mostly take liquidity, IB's all-inclusive rate is a great deal for me. I have yet to find a place that offers the same things they do that fits my...

    The problem with IB

I don't like the extra fee increase for direct API orders either, but I can see why IB needs to do that. Their bundled stock commissions probably use statistics that are based on SMART routing. I.e., they know their cost of providing order execution when they control the routing. Once a...

Every morning at 9:24am EST, IB forcibly logs me out

Every morning for the past three trading mornings at 9:24am EST, IB forcibly logs my account out. I have confirmed that my internet connection is fine during these logouts. A long time ago, I had a simliar problem but I was being logged out forcibly at around 5pm EST. IB eventually resolved...

Please, I am not twisting your comments. However, you may have written them badly. But you do imply that he only goes by Dr. or only should go by Dr. If there is one thing I've learned in life, is that people who prefer the title Dr. need to have a reality check.
