$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

The double-click is not the issue anymore as IBj has stated that the double-click resulted in an IB bug and IB is responsible for that. But again, anyone who cannot tell if they single or double-clicked something needs to take their "how to use computers" course over. [B] Hiring a...

Were the multiple orders on the covering side of GBP equal to the amount that zzzap was short? If so, wouldn't that give an indication that zzzap knew he had that position on? Or does he always trade in 66 lots of GBP?

This is the big question and determines the appropriate amount of compensation. I guess I am naturally more skeptical than most when it comes to these situations.

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

I am not sure that would completely solve the problem in that IB could have an internal order log that is more complete than the one you see on your audit trail and that internal order log is probably never sent as internet traffic. I.e., sniffing might just give you what you already know -...

    (1) Don't tell me you can't tell the difference between single clicking and double clicking something. (2) Probably true. (3) IBj has already said it was his fault the problem was not escalated in a timely manner. Is this considered "stonewalling"? Only if 95% of your posts are IB...

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

That is wrong. There are some people that need to fire off rapid orders in quick succession. Being able to press the submit button rapidly makes this possible. I guess it all depends on what platform you are using and what you expect from it. I personally want a platform where multiple...

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

Certainly there has to be some responsibility put on a person who clicks the mouse 100 times on a submit order button! As to whether 2 times is as bad as 100 times, that is the eye of the beholder. I know if I had accidentally double clicked transmit and only one order showed up, I probably...

Through IBj, we know for a fact that two basket orders were submitted in rapid succession. How else can this happen except for a double click?

So when you press the mouse you don't realize whether you single or double clicked it? If you ignore the issue of what the customer did, then you are ignoring an important part of the puzzle. The only important issue remaining is whether the customer knew he had this position on or not. If...

If you go into Cash where do you guys put it?

I'm glad that author can sleep at night with his money exposed to subprime. Some of his points seem comforting on the surface, but when you start thinking about them, they really don't mean much. For example, it is a known fact that S&P and Moody's have been negligent in their ratings of these...

Yes, this is the problem. For me there is nothing that comes close to IB.

Can't access IB anyone else having probs?

It is my experience that Live Chat is not a reliable way to contact IB. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it is really important, call. Not making excuses for IB - they need to do a better job manning their chat terminals. Just telling you the way it is.

No reason to get a lawyer if you can resolve the issue with IB directly. From what I have read so far on this thread, I would bet that the original poster gets all of his money back. If he were to hire a lawyer, the fees would certainly cut into his funds.

Is IB completely down now and for more than 30 minutes!!!?

See this would be funny if it weren't for the fact that 95% of your posts deal with bashing IB. Have you heard the story about the boy who cried wolf?

I've had luck copying over a previous .xml file and then when you run the TWS and everything comes up normally, make sure you do a Save Settings. The next time you run, it is my experience that it comes up okay. Quite an annoying bug though.

Is IB completely down now and for more than 30 minutes!!!?

I've had this problem for a few days now. Try going into your jts/d******* folder and delete the file tws.xml. And then copying maybe Friday's .xml file (tws.Fri.xml) as tws.xml. Then rerun your TWS. It should come up with at least the "File Page Ticker Order Tools..." bar up on top. I...

It's obvious by now that you are a pained IB account holder. If it is causing you such distress, feel free to move your account elsewhere.
