TSLA - on verge of bankruptcy?

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/tesla-is-just-months-away-from-a-total-collapse-says-hedge-fund-manager-2018-03-27 Is this right? Bankruptcy that soon? I mean, its INSANE with its valuation. Seems shorting this thing SHOULD be the safest game in town, given that it should go to zero...

    Saltynuts's trend following journal

Thanks Sprout! Question - when you say this - HH, HL, LH, LL’s, RTL and LTL’s are a start and there is so much more. What are those abbreviations? Higher highs, higher lows, lower highs, lower lows, I would guess, and the last two? You are suggesting I look for those things on the charts...

Again, I do most certainly have real time data with my real IB account. In the 5 minutes I was playing around in my paper trading account, the little default chart that I'm used to looking at did not appear to be getting the real-time updates. Not typing that out a fourth time lol.

yahoo SPX volume is just weird

Sure, you COULD just add them up. Maybe they do that. But the goal, I would think, is to figure out what the volume of that index would be if that index were a real thing you could by or sell. And, if so, I maintain that the representative volume of that index would be calculated as I...

What are the most important things for Technical Analysis?

So lightninboy, are you saying you buy funds essentially when their RSIs are high, and sell them when they are low? If so, isn't that kinda-sorta the opposite of what RSI is supposed to do - isn't it an over-bought/over-sold indicator? Thanks.

yahoo SPX volume is just weird

Good lord I too googled this and gave up trying to find it. I would assume its calculated in the same way as the index - market weighted - so for each stock in the index you take its volume that day, multiply it by its weight in the index, then add all of those 500 calculated amounts together...

    Saltynuts's trend following journal

Thanks Startibartfast. If I ever manage to turn a profit trading just 1 share of SPY I'll check these out for futures. For just regular stock IB has pretty much the best rates no? I'll need to check out their most recent rates - I've been with them for like maybe a decade or more - I'm sure...

You ever been to a supermarket? Do you know how, when you go to the nuts section, they offer different varities of nuts, with some being "salted" and some "unsalted"? I am the former. So all I can offer you is my salty nuts. EAT MY SALTY NUTS!!!

    Saltynuts's trend following journal

I suspect I do. I posted twice my problems with the paper trade thing, not going to type them out again. But I spent literally 5 minutes in it before just going to my main account and trading 1 share, per recommendations here. So maybe it just needed configuring or something.

    Shorting stocks that get delisted

Thanks Free one! That is exactly my worry. Question - what borrowing fees would have to be paid in this situation? I think shorting borrowing fees are based on value of the short. So how would the fees be calculated when the value of the short is technically unknown? Thanks!

    are trend lines self-fulfilling prophesies?

I like this video, but I'm just not so sure about it. I get it. You could place some random horizontal lines on a chart, and some would fit in and look like support/resistance points. But that is just pure chance - random. The question is, can those coming up with support/resistance points...

The reason China cannot match the US in tit-for-tat tariffs

Thanks ECS, I think in summary what you are saying is that if China raises tariffs on all U.S. goods to infinity, such that U.S. goods sold to China drops to zero, the U.S. is down $150 billion max, but if the U.S. did the same thing v. China, China would lose far, far more exports. That makes...
