    CBOT membership price

IMO, unless you have a "lot" of capital, I would lease not buy. I think the days of memberships being a great investment have passed.

Is there a large trader rule when scalping the E-Mini S&P?

As long as you are not preaching position limits, which are high, you don't have to worry about this until you are contacted. I believe the CFTC only looks at overnight positions, but if you have positions that meet their qualification for the future you trade, your FCM will file a Form 102 to...

would shorts have to buy whatever our selling price if the company doesn't state the buyout price?

It' my expectation that you have to pay the long you borrowed the stock from, the value of the take over. I don't think you have to cover your Position unless your clearing firm is going to buy you in because of Reg Sho rules.

Do large banks and institutions use TA to profit?

It is my understanding that large "banks" that having proprietary trading desks use global dispersion models for options and are always hedging their equity positions. With the bulk of their capital, I don't think they take directional bets. (I'm assuming TA is technical analysis). Before Dodd...

New Trader with Questions on Margins and Buying Power

TOS makes that easy because with each order ticket, they tell you what the margin will be. In general, their margin requirement will be higher than what the exchange requires on short options. If you want to learn what the exchange requirement is for different positions, you can try the CME...

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

Y yale? Not me. I was not a great student. I have a BS-MBA from NYU back when NYU's business school was easier to get into.

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

Of course I agree to this. There are more HS in america than spots in Ivy schools. That does not include foreign schools.

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

I was not saying that education should be free. I'm saying that these schools are nonprofit institutions. They charge tuition to pay the expenses of the school. If they can get these fees covered by investing, they should lower or get rid of tuition. Imagine if some hedge fund right now started...

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

Yes, the quality of the education you get is often tied to the effort you put in. But the opportunities that open up to you at top schools has a lot of value. Another question would be, do you go to college to learn, or get a good job? Different for everyone. I went to college because I was...

Filing A Complaint Against My Brokerage For Lying? Email Proof! FINRA?

This is a difficult issue when dealing with prop firms. That is why I always point out to those entering these "deal", care as much about the management and their finances as your commission rate. Only do business with people you can trust.

Should I be in Prop Firms or elsewhere, if so, which ones?

In general, a prop firm where you put up your money as first loss, and they make their money from transactions not profits is not a good fit for you. Here is my reasons why. -you might not be able to use your returns to market your strategy, as those returns are their returns not yours, because...

I think you have to contact Canadian regulators not FINRA. I would not wait. Bob

SPX vs ES options Better fills?

What is FOPs? Is that a request for quote? The CBOE has a complex order book. I don't think the CME has one.

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

I have no problem with this. Hire the best and the brightest. Pay them well. My focus is that they are a nonprofit institution. They should not be charging to "make money",they should be charging to cover the cost of the education, but that cost is being covered by endowments and earning from...

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

My daughter went to a very good, non ivy league school. In her freshman year, she had 4 suitemates. They were all valedictorians of their high school, but choose my daughter's school because they could not afford an IVY. At her school, they had either free rides or tuition free. If Harvard wants...

Filing A Complaint Against My Brokerage For Lying? Email Proof! FINRA?

Wow. I not sure what to say. I have been in this industry for along time. I have had only one issues with a retail broker, which I won't name. I was a client for a long time with Spear Leeds & Kellogg (SLK) then Goldman Sachs Execution and Clearing (GSEC). These we both professional...

Is It Time to Tax Harvard’s Endowment?

I have been saying this for years. "Harvard is a hedge fund with a university attached to it,” IMO, their endowment needs to be used for the benefit of the university and its students. Why do they charge any tuition at all...

Business/legal structure for separately managed accounts

Futures or Securities? Either way, I would set up an LLC as the Manager. Then you have to decide if you need to register.

SPX vs ES options Better fills?

I think for "large" spread orders on either SPX or ES, using a broker to "shop" you order will help find liquidity. It is often worth the extra commissions when the listed markets are wide. Bob
