    NYSE rule on orders

It is possible they are trying to reduce unwanted order flow but it is also possible the are trying to catch orders not placed properly. Hard to tell. Bob

    NYSE rule on orders

I'm not aware of any restriction like that from the exchange. You should be able to bid $1.00 for a stock trading at 100. In fact, to test it, I just big $1.00 for 500 shares of SPY and my order went through.

    Interesting website

Love lunch, but unfortunately we don't get that here. I think in my career I ate more lunches during the week standing than sitting.

    Best Options Platform?

Most of my clients use Silexx OEMS or Sterling Trader Pro. I prefer Silexx for options. http://www.silexx.com/ Bob

Paying $5 plus $.10 per Option Contract Saved me $480 on 1 Trade!

RabidTrader, No I don't have any statistics on "at home" traders. I don't believe that just because someone has more AUM, that it makes them better. I do believe that younger minds see fresh opportunities more often but do better when mentored or monitored by a more experienced trader to keep...

Paying $5 plus $.10 per Option Contract Saved me $480 on 1 Trade!

I would have to speak to your friend directly, if the account would be for him. Yes we offer futures though FC Stone. Canadian Stocks, I'm not sure. I never asked.

RabidTrader, you can certainly trade from home and run a business. You don't need an office for that. You also don't need to manage other's money for it to be a business.

Paying $5 plus $.10 per Option Contract Saved me $480 on 1 Trade!

RabidTrader, I can't really comment on the retail promotions, except they should honor what they offer. To me, and I know this in very general, but if you are looking to open a brokerage account, there are investors and traders. For both investors and traders, there are those that do it as a...

It is typical to route and get paid for it with options, even dma. To me, as long as I can directly to an exchange and it ends up on the exchange I don't care if a market maker gets a first look. It helps keep your commissions lower.

It's hard to compare because we can't compare Quality of execution and we don't know what your average trade size is. I assume this is for smart routes only. You should ask where your orders go, especially complex spreads. You'd be surprised at how quality of execution makes a huge difference...

Paying $5 plus $.10 per Option Contract Saved me $480 on 1 Trade!

I think you are giving a lot of credit or anger to your"broker", when they likely had little control over that order. In many circumstances, the DMA to the exchange is another broker connected to their order router. If you sent it to an exchange directly (DMA), you might have caught a buyer you...

IPO First Trading Day Question for the Expierenced Traders Here

If it can be executed on the open, why would it not trade? All market orders or limit orders through the opening price, sent to the primary before the opening rotation is complete, get executed at one price. This applies to NASDAQ and NYSE. I can't speak for OTCBB.

Shorting the SPY in Retail Account Possibly Forced to Cover Position

They are basically telling you that they are having trouble borrowing the shares, and you might get bought in. You can replace the short stock position with a 4 long puts and 4 short calls on the same strike, that covers the time period you need to be short. You can do it as one trade including...

IPO First Trading Day Question for the Expierenced Traders Here

An IPO can only open at the Primary exchange. There is only one opening price. Send your order to the primary and it does not matter as long as you get in before the pairing off is set.
