    Automate trading broker suggestion?

If you need low latency with futures, there are many choices and they are independent of the FCM you use. And, if the account is over $1mm, you can code directly to the CME iLink for the fastest access. We offer an introduction to INTL FC Stone for futures. There are also many APIs available if...

Strongly Looking into Starting up RIA

I'm very familiar with IB. We were introducing brokers to IB up to the end of last year, then we dropped the relationship.

Credibility testing with a private forum?

Not all successful traders have audits of their trading and the ones that have an edge, won't share it.

    Updated Prop Firms for 2016

SIPC only covers "customer" accounts. It's that simple. http://www.sipc.org/for-investors/what-sipc-protects If your broker offers you a customer account with SIPC protection, you have it. If you join a prop firm that is a broker dealer, you get no protection. If you join a firm that is not a...

    Updated Prop Firms for 2016

It sounds like you are looking for an unregistered prop firm. EVERY broker dealer in the US is a member of SIPC and EVERY BD in not covered with SIPC protection for firm accounts, only customer accounts. And, if you join a trading group that is "customer", the account gets covered once under...

Strongly Looking into Starting up RIA

In my experience, the background that brings in the assets, without family connections, are the CFA and CPAs. Trading is not the best background for what you are describing. I'm just trying to help. I know more people doing asset management than any other business. The ones that do the best...

Strongly Looking into Starting up RIA

Not really knowing you or you capabilities, my advice would be to strongly consider joining a larger Broker Dealer that will provide regulatory support, research and guidance. Doing this on your own will be very difficult. Then, as you build a business over time, you can consider going out on...

Strongly Looking into Starting up RIA

DarthFader989, To be honest, I could not follow you. Basically, there are two types of RIAs. One, as Mav has said, generally works for an asset manager like ML,MS,GS etc or any of the many independent asset managers. Most of these provide a full suite of services including insurance and...

How does futures day-trade margin work?

I have an ES day trader that is a CTA with a $100,000 allocation that trades 4 contracts at a time. That produces swings what are frequently $800 to $1000 per day. I think almost 1% swings per day are too much so I cut him back to 2 contacts per trade. I don't see how someone can trade the...

How does futures day-trade margin work?

You will have to ask you broker/FCM since it will differ from FCM to FCM. This is basically a risk question not a margin question as the margin is set by the exchanges and calculated at EOD.

    Does IB Internalize Option Orders?

yes. That is my expectation. You can test it. Route your order to the CBOE COB at a price where you are the best bid or offer but don't expect an execution. Then look for it here: http://www.cboe.com/cob/cob.aspx Don't forget to filter for your symbol and type of spread so it is easy to view.

    Does IB Internalize Option Orders?

I have a TD account for my Roth IRA. I have tried letting them decide and I have cancelled/replaced my orders from exchange to exchange. When it will make a nominal difference is with the symbols that have a large rebate/fee for the maker/taker set up. If a market maker has to pay a lot to trade...

    Does IB Internalize Option Orders?

Both TD and IB receive Payment for order flow for some of their options orders. In fact it is very standard in the industry. The difference is that complex orders from TD can easily be sent one of three exchanges while IB charges extra for DMA and makes it a little difficult to set up. Also...
