    Selling Gold

You will get the best value if you can find another investor that is willing to buy the Gold at the spot market price at the time your doing the transaction. Then you both benefit from a neutral price.

    IB's option cancellation fee

Correct..they charge cancel fees to all clients even if the exchange they route your order to do not charge. So, IB is charging for using their bandwidth. As far as I know, no other firm does that.

    IB Margin Changes

Yes. If you're NOT a Broker Dealer, you're protected by SIPC up to the SIPC limits. Plus, Penson like most brokerage firms has excess SIPC coverage from an insurance firm to offer a little more coverage. Terms of SIPC help. Customers of a failed brokerage firm get back all securities (such as...

    Questions about my trading strategy

Your strategy is a long based strategy that works well in up markets. Trading the same strategy delta neutral will increase your upside risk, but increase profits for flat to down markets. To ratio sell calls, you'll most likely need a portfolio margin account because REG-T is too restrictive...

    IB's option cancellation fee

The exchanges charge cancellation fees from hitting a ratio of cancellations to executed orders and is monitored at the broker dealer level. Because IB hits those levels from their own trading, it's easier to charge everyone than just charge the account that creates the fees. The fees...

    IB Margin Changes

Let me start by saying I feel IB is an excellent firm offering an excellent product that many traders enjoy using, but is not right for everyone. In my opinion, IB is a trading firm (Timberhill), that has a brokerage arm to make money, reduce the over head for the trading arm, and provide order...

    two questions about E-trade

-Every Prime Broker in the US offering Customer Portfolio Margin uses the TIMS calculation to shock a portfolio and come up with a minimum haircut calculation. Every Broker can ask for a premium for securities with higher volatility or during market condition that warrant higher margin, at their...

    A couple of questions

Most futures brokers charge per contact commissions. All Exchanges charge per contract clearance. The only saving you'd receive by placing larger orders is if your broker charges a ticket charge or minimum charge per order. That's not common. Ten orders to buy one contract or one order to buy...

    Picking the right strike price

You're looking for a simple response to your question, but there is none. You're looking at the issue backwards. You can't look for the "best" strike to trade. You have to come up with a strategy first, then look for the best month and strike or combination of months and strikes to accomplish...

    Bid Ask Determination

If your trying to determine if the bid came in first, then hit by the seller or the other way around, you would need a platform that offers last sale by the exchanges and the changes in BID/ASK spread to 1/100 of a second. I don't know any one that has that except the exchanges for internal use...
