Explain to me how Oanda's "box options" are not a giant ripoff

The "hit" and "miss" prices are often very similar. If you try to create a straddle-type of situation, you won't get paid enough from the winner to make back your cost. I don't see a way to possibly hedge anything with these. Is my data just goofy cuz I'm on a demo account? Or are they...

Is SPY going to break out to the upside or downside? CHART!

I buy index ETFs when price goes down. I really don't care what price does as long as it continues to go up and down, up and down. Doesn't mean I don't like looking at charts and trying to see if I can figure out what is going on.

Anyone know anything about these "balancepoint" things? (chart)

I did. They haven't logged on in over a year and the "email" option was disabled. So I'm asking the main forum instead. Discuss the feasibility of using individual sectors as indicators for S&P/Nasdaq/Dow performance.

Anyone know anything about these "balancepoint" things? (chart)

Someone posted this in another thread. Is this just looking at various indexes and/or sectors (banks, semiconductors, housing, oil, etc.) and displaying them in histogram form or something? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=2206272

What was the random entry/chandelier exit study?

That was a useful post. I don't have access to any backtesting software atm AND I was more throwing it out there to trigger some discussion and ideas.

Random buying and selling, and day trading

I was about to dismiss you as a nutjob until I read about the biased wheels. Yeah, back in the day it wasn't entirely even distribution on a roulette wheel. But today they're machined and I think there are balance tolerances and stuff and they're pretty much random.

Random buying and selling, and day trading

Agreed. But it's safe to say they're "random" as far as most people are concerned. I cannot predict motion within a molecule. Therefore it's random to me even tho it's not really random. Therefore, approach price as if it were random (because it likely is to you). Excepting, of...

    One trade to $1 million

That guy writes like a 7 year old. That was hard to read. Although I will agree with this: "...That’s what you need to do in the business of investing. That’s how we make money. By averaging up on the long side and averaging down on the sale side.”

    One trade to $1 million

1 in 1,000... with a $1,000 account to $1,000,000. So your overall expectancy is still 0 (minus commissions). lol.

    One trade to $1 million

I stole this idea from a thread on a forex forum I saw a few years back. I don't remember which forum or which thread so if this sounds familiar to anyone, post a link to the original. This dude basically said that in Forex it's possible to start with a small account and if you get lucky and...
