ES Daytraders, Whats max heat you will take ?

That's a pretty vague statement. What is exactly a 'high percentage' system? What is 'rarely' stopping out with a loss? And to say that 'risk is not a big issue' in trading, especially daytrading futures, is a bit off... There is risk every day and every trade, but that's why we do it b/c of the...

    ER2 liquidity

MIT exits just mean Market If Touched. In other words, instead of sitting at a price level with a limit order hoping I am at the front of the line or it trades through the price, as soon as the market hits that price level my exit automatically becomes a market order. Advantage is that you will...

    Newbie: trading emini contracts

Interesting thread - a post asking about where to start and then a post with a vendor link. All from posters that have exactly 1 post each. Anyone care for some spam tonight?

    ER2 liquidity

You've got patience Gov that's for sure. I don't know that I could wait and wait for my limit to be hit. Guess that's why I use MIT's to exit. For me, it's not worth having a retracement over 1 or 2 ticks and since the ER2 can easily snap back, I prefer MIT's on exits.

    ER2 liquidity

If you are using buy stops and sell stops to enter, you may want to use buy stop LIMITS and sell stop LIMITS. This way you can enter with larger lot size but not have to worry about eating 4+ ticks - either your order will be filled at your price levels or it won't. The downside is you may see...

TradersExpo Las Vegas... Is it worth it?

The expos are good for general info. I went to one in NY in 2005. It was good for getting your feet wet and just getting a taste of different stuff out there. Keep in mind however it is basically a big sales convention for vendors. Even during the 'general' presentations, these are put on by...

Any alternative to trading from a desk?

You could try a PDA if small and mobile is what you are looking for. Or you can call your broker over the phone to place orders - something a little nostalgic.

    Hedge Fund TV Show

Actually the fund manager said visiting the store was a piece of the puzzle. In other words, his visit to the store just reinforced his other analysis. At no point did he say 'I am shorting this stock b/c there are too many jeans in this window'.

    Question on over-night margin requirements

I think the actual question should be have you found another broker that does not view 3 minutes before the open as 'overnight' and the answer is YES. There are MANY brokers like that. It all boils down to what the broker views as 'overnight'. That's the first issue here and it appears it has...

    ask/bid numbers: market manipulation?

Shraga - one explanation could also be the orders ABOVE the current price that are not reflected on the dom - these would be buy stop orders (which is what I use). So if you see 1500 sellers sitting at a price, there may already be 2000 buyers sitting there waiting for price to move up. Then...

Cheap/Fast Recipes for Single Guys that can't cook

http://www.kraftfoods.com Kraft's website is really nice. My girlfriend uses their recipes all the time and they are quick and easy. You can signup for mailings as well and get stuff. I've even cooked a few myself and they are straightforward.

    Hedge Fund TV Show

cal - you don't buy just one HD channel. When you purchase a HD package, this channel, among many others are included. It's time for some on this board to upgrade to the HD world. It's much better than the old TV stations.

    e-mini Futures Open and Close

legend - I think you will find plenty of traders that look to trade outside of the "normal US hours". I would suggest backtesting multiple timeframes. Without knowing your trading methodology, it's not going to hurt to tell the computer to run different timeframes. You may end up being...

Why are US index futures so choppy?

The ES lately has been very rangebound at times, while the ER2, NQ, EC and/or QM are not as rangebound. Personally for me, the ES is becoming less enticing as it feels like squeezing moves out of it while watching the other markets mentioned provide good profit opportunities. So just looking...

    e-mini Futures Open and Close

legend - for US traders the 'usual' open is 9:30am EST and close is 4:15pm EST. With that being said, volume usually starts to increase around 8:30am EST, especially on econ release days. So, you can argue that 8:15am'ish - 4:15pm could be the template to use or you can just use 9:30am -...

    Help! one monitor is malfunctioning

Go to Best Buy and replace it. Unless of course this is a $2500 widescreen flat panel. Then you may want to try to fix it. Depending on the severity of the damage, it may be cheaper to just purchase something brand new. And while there purchase a larger surge protector that you can hook all...

    Question on over-night margin requirements

Right volente, I was trying to make a point to 50 cent who said my initial post "nothing could be further from the truth". I understand how and why margins work they the way they do, but not sure 50 did/does.

    Question on over-night margin requirements

50 - yes, it should work that way. At least at most brokers but apparently not all of them. Now if you enter that same order at 4:14pm EST and get filled and hold till 4:16pm EST you will incur overnight margins. My point being that my initial post, which you cited as completely inaccurate...
