    The S&P has topped !

At yesterday's closing marks: XLE vs. SPY for currency valuation: 1.73:1 XLE vs. SPY for volatility hedge: 1.87:1 XLE vs. ES for currency valuation: 858:1 XLE vs. ES for volatility hedge: 885:1 You use the ES for the size you can do on the best bid and offer, it is entirely relevant...

    The S&P has topped !

Atticus, in the past 14 months I have worked with one HF and another large Chicago private equity firm who spread baskets of stocks against notionals every second of the trading day in an omnibus account for ridiculous size. Whether you do 507 shares of SPY or 1 ES contract, the primary concern...

anyone daytrade the ZF (5 YR Note)? It seems pretty weak

I took profit on half of my TuT position at 9:30 am Central time. Remainder of the bid still working below.

    The S&P has topped !

Atticus, chillax. It's just one segment of a larger (equity/futures mixed) basket position using other futures contracts with an exchange SPAN margin credit of 85% on the initial performance bond margin. In terms of that pair in isolation, you could just as easily use SPY in lieu of ES, or...

"i only trade intra-day so order flow is much more important for me" Understood. I used to trade 300K Eurex/Liffe curve RTs per month intraday for David Ellis over at DE Trading. And now I can make just as much money (usually more) trading 3-5K RTs per month.

    The S&P has topped !

"the question isnt when you will go short...it is how many times did you get stopped buying the dip yesterday and perhaps today?... " The answer is zero times. Flat directional price risk is for suckers - not smart money. Relative value trading is much cheaper to capitalize and...

    WTI on ICE versus NYMEX

"Any reason at all to trade ICE WTI versus NYMEX?" No reason at all. I know groups with uber-ECNs including co-located servers who gave up on that arb - you will get picked off and flipped on the ICE side. Frequently.

I shorted the TuT (2's to 10's) the 14th, and rolled it into June today. Working sales as I type in the GE Z1-Z2 exchange supported implied spread - looking to work into a short between tonight and tomorrow morning.

Best state to form a LLC?

Ask Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage how the tax payment honor system works. Or simply not paying taxes on what you perceive to be a 'gray area'. Hell, there were 'top three' accounting firms giving what turned out to be incorrect advice to clients - the clients were not spared enforcement and...

    The S&P has topped !

To call a top, technical price action verification is required. And that means taking out the trendline channel we have been in. And that has not happened yet. When that happens, I will get short. But there is no legitimate technical price action evidence that a top has been put in.

Two brokers, use just one clearer?

The other broker will charge a "give up agreement " fee to route the trades to another clearing firm. And that haircut usually ain't cheap.

Best state to form a LLC?

"According to the IRS, if a trust makes any disbursement to any US citizen it is taxable" Bingo. If you are a US citizen in any investment partnership - foreign or domestic, it is taxed at ordinary income rates. There is an entire autonomous IRS division devoted to it. That income is...
