    Options Daytrading?

Yes, good advice.....and correct me if I am wrong.....daytrading options will flag PDT rule violations....I'm almost positive of that. (PDT = Pattern Day Trader) Therefore, he would have to trade Prop....and few prop firms encourage options trading. So this whole concept looks to be a failed one.

Interesting things about TOS..... - tech support par excellent Whenever I mention a small bug or other nuance, it's usually fixed within a few weeks....and they do it quietly. - rock solid Java platform, constantly updated (almost weekly !) Never freezes. problems only if the exchange...

    IB TWS pinkout craziness

This is an interesting reminder of when I had a quote.com account and was using QCharts. QCharts was fraught with performance problems. Some days were good, others were terrible. Then some clever programmer created a utility which would determine the response time of a particular QCharts...

Trade Station is far worse than IB

Since you did TWO things at once, how do you know the problem is really the 8.3 version vs. the matrix ? For instance, if you removed the matrix from 8.3, would the freezing also have stopped ?

THIS SAYS IT ALL: https://www.tradestation.com/Discussions/Topic.aspx?Topic_ID=62906&SearchTerm=windows%202000&txtExactMatch= It's not the HARDWARE, It's the Operating System. Win/XP far worse than imagined.

Trade Station is far worse than IB

This makes sense and the high variance in the set-ups of each user's workstation probably explains the variance in the experience. Since it appears that Tradestation does NOT send a sampled tick data stream like ThinkorSwim and Interactive Brokers, it would seem that a less-than-worthy...

    Excel 2007 crashes with DDE

As you've determined, the implementations of RTD and DDE are quite different. Without being an Excel expert, this is just another Microsoft "gotcha" from a technical standpoint. With RTD, although purported to be more "efficient" from a data communication standpoint, poses a different problem...

This question is for the math guru's

To determine probability, You need the DISTRIBUTION of the range for the selected interval....not just the AVERAGE. Best to get tons of historical data, and determine the distribution of the range. Once you do this, then FIT the distribution to a binomial, normal, guassian or other distribution...

    IB TWS pinkout craziness

Just another Bill Gates bogus message meant to scare non-techies. It's not that bad...see this: http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-3913-Making-a-program-remember-its-priority.html Yes, unless you use Priority Master or the START command. It would happen ALL THE TIME if it is on...

    where/when to exit?

Stability ? Do you mean the smoothness of the equity curve or what ? Backtesting chandlier exits indicates better Win% performance, but much lower $ win per trade. I'm not knocking the technique, just indicating there are trade-offs in using it vs. other exits.

Trade Station is far worse than IB

Yes, this makes sense...and I wonder how many TS8 traders are updating their indicators on every tick...that would be just so CPU-intensive for some complex indicators. It's starting to sound like there are TS 8 users who know what they're doing and others just running it without understanding...

Trade Station is far worse than IB

What is your hardware set-up ? O/S ? Priority setting ? No question, having a multi-level DOM screen really is a data barrage. My current platform only has inside-market, but again, it never slows down, never goes down. I really wonder if TS users are getting hit with problems because of the...

OK, but any reason you aren't running Javaw.exe (which effectively runs TWS) at REALTIME priority ? Everyone seems to forget that running a REALTIME application at NORMAL priority is asking for trouble. That's why most CD/DVD burning programs force their launch to REALTIME priority. Also, if...
