Brutal MSNBC Moment: Chris Matthews Crucifies Flustered Obama Backer

EXACTLY....see my post about "batten down the hatches". Omigosh, talk about a "Mean America". We're going to have one for the next 5 YEARS. I fully expect to be beating people off of my property as HOARDS of homeless people roam the country looking for a place to sleep. That's how bad it's...

    Ooooops TradeStation!

That's a helluva idea. In fact, it may actually happen...I just got an email from Tradestation indicating they are looking for engineers....which means the existing ones are bailing....and for good reason. Tradestation appears not to be improving their server infrastructure....with all of the...

    Vista Rant

Information Week mag just had an article about Vista.....and the conclusion was that it will NEVER be as fast as XP. Moreover, XP SP3 is coming out which will be faster than SP2. Vista is dead.

    C++ Compilers.

The trades per day is irrelevant IMHO. The most critical performance-related issue is the data feed. Using Level II ? Tracking Multiple Symbols ? Using Complex Algorithmic calculations ? If YES, YES, YES, you definitely need C or C++....and multithreading....which is a whole other can of worms...

    Genesis FIX vs Genesis API

FIX is so primitive, so low-level, so abstract. Why would you want to go in that direction ? I'm working with the API and it's actually pretty well architected.

    Soceite Generale Kerviel's P/L chart

Interestingly, it appears he did no trading from July 2007 thru December. His equity curve was dead-flat at that time. He was "up" huge, too, at that time.

    Ooooops TradeStation!

Can you enumerate some of the problem with Multicharts v 2.1 ?

    Exactly....I don't quite see it's value either....and it's only single threaded.

    interactive brokers questions

Dude - get REAL. IB's "free" platform isn't the greatest. Also, DON'T BE CHEAP...move up to Windows/XP at least. Millinium ? It's obsolete...why take a chance with your money ?

    Ooooops TradeStation!

INTERESTING COMMENT. Unbelieveably, Interactive Brokers could do this in a heartbeat. UNFORTUNATELY, they've been lead down the path of outsourcing/foreign programmers....and just getting them to acknowledge problems has become a huge wall to climb. They have a decent scanner...they just...

Brutal MSNBC Moment: Chris Matthews Crucifies Flustered Obama Backer

I saw it....and I agree....we are in for some rough, ROUGH times in 2009->2012. Omigosh, he is SUCH A GREAT SPEAKER....but what about his ACTIONS ? No ACCOMPLISHMENTS ? That's HUGE...and speaks volumes for his abilities. I told my wife tonight to "batten down the hatches"...the next 5 years are...

    Progress Apama Algorithmic Trading

Whoa....impressive work. When you say "I've connected to it in Java"...exactly how was that done ? Is Apama written in Java ? If not, did you use an API or what ?

Exactly...and the reason they are going to zero: they'll be sued by Juniper Networks due to name infringement.

    A New Undicator: NMA

A VWAP can be as reactive as the time interval used. For this indicator, how many periods are used to compute the VWAP. 20 ? 30 ? more ?

    Lightspeed Question

I used Lightspeed 4 years ago....never went down.....and it was very fast. Didn't support stop orders at that time....since then, it's been enhanced though, so check the website for the details.

A cautionary tale for system developers

Well, looking at all of the facts and information here, I would judge against Crisis here. The main reason being: Tradescript is inherently "open source"....and there is no opportunity at this time in it's current release to build a system using a link to a DLL (which would make it "closed...

A cautionary tale for system developers

This is sounding a bit convoluted: 1) you have a script-based system Really ? You built a parser and all of the hooks to a price data stream ? It uses the circular buffer technique a la tradestation so that price history can be referenced: CLOSE[4]. OPEN[1], etc. ? WOW, that alone was a ton...

A cautionary tale for system developers

Nah : 1) NDA's are too weak of a document in court 2) Legal expense will outweigh any potential "protection". This whole incident is interesting. For instance, what dev platform was their automated trading platform written in ? Many choices today: c# dot-net, vb.net, Java, C++, Python...
