Told my new girl I was long

Agreed....I forgot about this new "global" economy. Still, I see nothing but "bubble, bubble, toil and trouble" ahead for the global economies....when the liquidity starts to dry-up.

Told my new girl I was long

I know this is nuts.....but Crude pressing $100/bbl and the Dow won't drop ? MrDodge MAY be right after all. What (or WHO) could be holding this market up ? Has the Bernanke PUT option been given to every trader ?

    The Surf Report

Answer : Use Put Credit Spreads vs. Naked Puts Loss is automatically "capped"....like an automatic stoploss. Perfect for traders like Vic who lack discipline.

The ABSOLUTE best pricing in the industry! (Equities)

Don't get me wrong, Cooltrade has some really nifty features like that scanner that employes technical indicators.....very novel. However, as with any GUI-based tool, it's going to have limitations...so, right out of the gate, it could not support my requirements. Also, I wonder now...does it...

    IB lowered margin requirements?

This was discussed before....the VIX definitely changes the margin req, but the exact margin req is somewhat arbitrary and capricious.

The ABSOLUTE best pricing in the industry! (Equities)

Baloney. No custom indicators or strategies permitted....must use their "canned" versions. Tradestation still ahead. Now, if they had both a scripting language and point-and-click interface, that would be comparable to Tradestation.

Offering to write your strategy for free

The current scanner at IB is NOT PROGRAMMABLE like Radarscreen. Strike 1 against IB. You can only get 100 real time symbols updated with IB unless you spend about $10k per month on commish. Strike 2 against IB. The API at IB is constantly in a state of flux with changes, additions, and...

    Excel 2007 crashes with DDE

Thanks Lawrence, but could you show a small example of an RTD implementation in Excel ? I don't quite see how it works compared to DDE's hard link referencing. TIA.

    Excel 2007 crashes with DDE

This just appeared to me: Has anyone QUANTIFIED the advantage of RTD vs. DDE for realtime data aquisition ?

My goal this month is $5,000 net profit

Huh ? Sounds like you just fell off the proverbial "turnip truck" !! Everyone knows TWS is just an order entry platform.....whereas Tradestation is at a whole different level. HELLO !

    Excel 2007

I actually heard this and discussed it with the Excel product manager. He is well aware of it and they are attempting to tune Excel 2007 in future service pack releases. My experience shows Excel 2003 is pretty darn fast, including DDE links; but COM/ActiveX is both buggy and slow. The easiest...

    programming language designed for trading?

You need to understand the basics first. For instance, Tradestation employes a circular buffer in an elegant fashion. With this concept, all price references are easy to accomplish: C = Close; C[1] = prior close, etc. Plus, all computed/derived variables retain this same "memory" of the recent...

    programming language designed for trading?

You are somewhat confused. Easylanguage cannot "stand alone" as a programming language....you need either the TS2000i platform or the TS8 network-based platform to use it. But you are correct in terms of it's specificity....it was designed for trading whereas Java, Basic, C#, etc. are all...

You forgot to add: 7. the US and the major economic powers are floating in a sea of cash right now. Follow the money. That's what the equity markets do... Now if Big Ben takes away the punch bowl, that should end this party.
