CNBC woes - am I alone in my anger?

Monopoly position. Pure and simple. Much of media is like this. We have a newsradio station in our area. I complain about them a lot....to no avail, they don't have to listen: they're the only one. It's great to be working for a monopoly. How bout that Ebay ?

bye bye market-yhoo intc tank it...700 pt drop -here we come

Look guys, we're still in a liquidity bubble with Big Ben simply wringing his hands on what to do next. He's got quite a tough decision ahead of him.... Until interest rates start to go up, this market will continue in that direction.

New Futures Account: RCG (Sweet Futures), Velocity, or Global?

Ugh....server problems = disaster. This should not have persisted for more than a few days or so. TOS's servers were flattened in the Feb market debacle which caused an enormous increase of the volume of derivative's trading. They upgraded their servers within 2 weeks of that event.

New Futures Account: RCG (Sweet Futures), Velocity, or Global?

Hey Jango ! Good to see you are still movin and shakin.... care to enumerate any problems and quirks you've encountered over at IB with regards to their platform or their service ? As you know, IB is going public soon...and this could be a scary thing for them....Sarbox, compliance...

    IB Secure Device

Exactly. This would kill 2 birds with one stone, so-to-speak....and provide that auto logon feature everyone is now so used to. Why doesn't IB ask "smart guys" like us before taking action on a technical change or addition ?

Is there ANY software out there that does what we need??

Exactly. YOU ARE ASKING FOR A LOT. What is your ability to pay for this ? I see the "I want a Ferrari, but can't afford it" syndrome at play here. BTW: Amibroker is pretty close to your requirements. Nothing will satisfy them all, but I think Goldman Saches or Lehman Brothers has something...

    IB Secure Device

Will API system builders be able to call the device to insure their software is not being used on more than one machine ? Wow - that would be a terrific feature !

How can you trade multiple accounts on a single PC using IB's TWS?

Regarding the TWS API.....would each sub-account need to be a separate "Client ID" to trade that sub-account separately ? Although "Client ID" is intrinsic to the API, it is hidden in the TWS front-end.

The Elliott Wave haunts me tonight

Or we could go sideways in an A-B-C-D-E zig-zag pattern.....as the Fed continues to talk and intervene on any market weakness as well as corps remaining profitable despite consumers becoming quite weak. Quite a conundrum here. Best strat may be to fade which ever way the market breaks. That was...

    Where Are They NOW?

You forgot to add: In these market conditions Back in 1999/2000, volatility permitted excellent intraday profits....many dumb traders made it on luck. Likewise, when the Yen Carry-trade event occurred several weeks ago, traders here were posting daily profits they hadn't see in YEARS...

My recent process of finding an edge.

Wow - I love that story....he may be a funny looking guy, but there's nothing "funny" about the returns he is getting....not to mention the value-added to the economy with the 140 people he's hired to run everything. Overall, VERY IMPRESSIVE. Suddenly, he's putting John Henry's long-term trend...

    IB TWS question

Great idea....why don't you submit this as an enhancement ? I would call this an order "package" which is a predefined conditional order. For now, you'll need to use the API and have it programmed.

    More IB wackiness!!!

Which version number of TWS was this ? The brand new one which just arrived ?

Why is the e-mini dow so thinly traded?

YM ? A joke. ES ? A joke. When the VIX is consistently above 20, they'll be tradeable. In the meantime, real traders are trading ER2.

Bubble Ben and his say tomorrow

Wait ! "Bubble" Ben or "Bullshit" Ben ? This economy is "bullshit" and so is Ben.

    Delaware & Philadelphia

Nice meeting all of you guys ! Whew, you'd think for this big metro area we could get a lot more traders rounded up. Sam - thanks for the beers ! See you all next month.

Amaranth's Brian Hunter to launch new Hedge Fund

EXACTLY. Hunter lacks DISCIPLINE...and obviously was very successful initially partially due to LUCK. He got into a LARGE losing position and didn't and wouldn't bail-out. NOW he'll really need LUCK to make it as a trader in a new fund.

    Open Letter to Interactive Brokers

Why should I be FORCED to keep my ATS simple ? Why should I have to spend MY TIME discovering and implementing work-arounds ? IB does a decent job, that can be done much better if they managed and marshalled their resources more efficiently.
