I agree, and it's a cross-platform one at that.

Anti-Aging therapies nearing could be U.S. money solution to Soc Sec

I've had time to think about this anti-aging thingy. Since Social Security's inception 80 years ago there have been numerous, real "anti-aging" advancements. An incomplete list in no particular order: Statin drugs. Take a cheap, low-risk medication every day and add 10-20 years to your life...

Anti-Aging therapies nearing could be U.S. money solution to Soc Sec

Maybe I missed something in the logic but wouldn't living longer and not working be worse for SS, not better? Sounds almost like a science fiction nightmare.

    Roth IRA vs Regular IRA

If you're young, you're generally in a lower tax bracket where tax deferral doesn't matter as much. In that case a Roth may make more sense.

Control up to four computers from a single mouse and keyboard

I run VMs (virtual machines) on an i7 built with extra RAM. VMs are actually safer than having separate machines since they can be hidden from the network they're on. There are viruses that can infect multiple machines by spreading on a LAN. VMs can be configured to be invisible from the...

Question from someone who know absolutely NOTHING about programming

Actually that's easy to imagine. I run my auto-trading environment on a headless Linux box from the command line. I control it using a simple web interface.

Question from someone who know absolutely NOTHING about programming

To answer your earlier question, I think the relative "popularity" of Java versus C++ here doesn't mean anything. C++ *is* a cross-platform language but that misses the larger point. GUIs developed in Java are truly portable. GUIs developed in C++ have to use a cross-platform GUI framework...

Thoughts on long OTM SPY calls

Based purely on volatility the probability of SPY closing above 225 within 91 days is about 6% Also, if SPY increases that much in 90 days IV will go DOWN not up. After the recent market drops IV is higher than usual, so you'll most likely lose time value during a major price rise.

    Stocks vs Options

You have better risk control with options. If you're bullish on a stock that's at $100 and you buy the stock and it gaps lower overnight to $70 you lose $30 with no opportunity to get out in between. If you bought an ATM call for $1 you only lose $1 on the overnight gap down, but had the same...

America's crushing surge of student debt has bred a disturbing new phenomenon

Full disclosure: I'm a small-L libertarian with 2 grown kids with student loans. Government loans created a tuition bubble. College was already affordable and scholarships were available to meritorious low-income students. Then the government steps in and wants everyone to go to college. Now...

America's crushing surge of student debt has bred a disturbing new phenomenon

There *is* a place for low income students in expensive schools. The Ivies allocate money every year to take in low income students who show merit. Average colleges (i.e. not Ivies) used to be affordable and now they're not and the reason is simple: government meddling in the form of low...

America's crushing surge of student debt has bred a disturbing new phenomenon

You misread my post. Knowingly taking on debt and then demanding debt forgiveness is what I consider reprehensible. Taking on $50K of debt for an art history major is unwise since you'll clearly never be able to pay it back. But it's your choice. What I hate most is not taking responsibility...

A really small Wall Street tax can make a really big difference

Guys, surely you realize that to the average person WE are Wall Street. I think I speak for many other small traders when I say I want to be able trade all day and hold positions as long or short as I want without regulatory punishment.

America's crushing surge of student debt has bred a disturbing new phenomenon

The thing I hate most about this issue is the pictures of protesters with signs demanding "forgive student debt". Clearly taking on that debt in the first place was a foolish decision. But making the conscious, adult decision to do so and then turning around and declaring it somehow "unfair"...
