    Government Bailout on the Way?

If you think about it, "bailout" is kind of a strong word. There's no way anyone is gonna pay off these stinkers. We're talking an astronomical amount of money. More likely they'll just force the banks to give more time to borrowers, renegotiate, etc.

    Chain Reaction Sell Off Tomorrow?

Man I hope so. Nothing like a good strong signal to get you into a few index futures positions.

    Government Bailout on the Way?

Great. 2.2 million people will be told it's OK to do risky borrowing because Club Fed will bail you out.

you ride on the highway, which lane?

Right. In exasperation you finally bail out of the short line where the problem is. Then no sooner do you change lines but an old lady in front of you in the new line pulls out her check book. And the slow, short line suddenly breaks loose. God I hate shopping in stores. I'd much rather...

you ride on the highway, which lane?

Hmmm. That brings up a whole 'nother analogy. It seems like I'm always in the wrong check-out lane at Target. I came up with what I call the "short line theory". The short line looks tempting because common wisdom says there are less people to check out so you'll get checked out sooner...

Must see: The Great Global Warming Swindle

The world was a much bigger, emptier place when Adam Smith wrote Wealth of Nations. I concede to ssternlight. I'm a software-writing physicist who took EC101 in college. That's it for economics. Still, it's fun stirring the pot occasionally.

Must see: The Great Global Warming Swindle

Didn't Adam Smith establish that individuals pursuing selfish interests in a free market benefit the greater good? You *are* a capitalist, right? Otherwise you wouldn't be here at ET (Just to be clear: I'm as skeptical of arguments FOR human causation of global warming as those AGAINST...

you ride on the highway, which lane?

I've also observed that there's no correlation between lane position and gender, age, or race.

you ride on the highway, which lane?

OMG, I must be one sick puppy. I've reflected on this very thing while driving up and down 270 (near D.C.) every day for the last 8 years. I made some observations of traffic patterns that I also believe are analogous to the markets. 1) People seem to blindly cut across the road for the...

Must see: The Great Global Warming Swindle

Guys, even if every signer of the Kyoto protocol actually implemented every little detail, who's gonna stop China? I realize they were exempted, but they're growing so fast (and burning so much cheap, abundant coal) that they'll outstrip the west in CO2 emissions in no time. Face it, we're...
