    Moving offshore

Sounds great on paper, but I'd feel funny living there what with being a unilingual caucasian american and what-not.

    Moving offshore

An idea I've floated with the wife is to simply move somewhere cheap within the US. We live on the east coast near Washington and it's very expensive to live here. And it isn't just real estate prices. Food, gas, property taxes, electricity are also pretty expensive. I've been thinking of at...

    Moving offshore

My wife's researching destinations outside the US to move to (with me of course). Mostly she's focusing on real estate prices, though. Out of the blue recently she suggested Canada (!). That's exactly the wrong way for a Yank to go. The US is a tax haven compared with Canada. (Plus too...

    Pattern Daytrade Rule

Just because you observed two or more phenomena occur simultaneously, it does not establish cause and effect. It is merely interesting.

What's all this I hear about endangered feces?

The "endangered feces" quote is from Gilda Radner's "Rosanne Rosannadanna" shtick. No one seems to have picked up on this but I guess it goes to show the age demographics of this place. She was on the original Saturday Night Live from the mid 70's. I watched this show all through college...

    Pattern Daytrade Rule

The current PDT rule came into effect in 2001, right around the last bubble burst. I don't think futures are quite there yet, but you can see it coming. Goes to show, make all the money you can in this racket while the rules continue to favor it.

ET moderator divulging personal info gotten from ET registration

You've gotta be kidding. I only use my real name and address for doing actual business involving real money. Anyone who gives their real name/address/phone to register for a bulletin board is insane.

What is the correct answer for a trader?

There are people here who think this is a "loser" strategy, but how about scaling out? Sell 1/2, move the stop to BE. Since you can't predict the future, scaling out lets you bank some profits, reduce risk and leaves that lottery ticket sitting out there just in case. Of course, this...

    Gorilla Trading

LOL you picked a helluva month to start buying stocks. Many long-only stock investors/traders are in cash right now. Compare how much you're down against the Dow or S&P500. You may find that you outperformed the market even though you're down some. At the very least I'd wait and see how...

Any US brokers allow day-trade with less 25K?

Nope, I believe that'd be agin' the law. (SEC rules) At least as far as stocks and options. Index futures and forex aren't subject to this.
