A movie to awake the masses of dummies

Speaking of awakening the masses of dummies, let's hope it doesn't go down like it did in 1935: Triumph Of The Will

option spreads in Ib using API

If you're in the OptionTrader of TWS and you open the "Option Spreads" interface (button of the same name), you can drag and drop options and create any arbitrary spread. You don't have to manually type in strikes, etc.

    How to Sell Silver bullion?

Cast them as belt buckles and sell them in Las Vegas to Japanese tourists.

program to test quality of connection?

You'll find that some servers on the internet don't have ICMP enabled, so they won't answer pings. Usually it's not web servers (http) but data servers that are like this. So when you see 100% packet loss it doesn't *necessarily* mean that the server is down or that your connection to it is bad.

Ouch.. tomorrow's gonna be a rough day..

I don't care which direction it goes, as long as it's a trend day.

screening (realtime and EOD) tools in IB?

It's a real-time scanner, it's very useful and I use it daily: http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/TWS_Reference_Information/marketScanner.htm And here are things you can scan for: http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/Technicals/scannerTypes.htm

    Freeware Disk Cloning Utility?

Not for the faint of heart, but I use partimage on the Knoppix live CD. I back up my whole hard drive periodically to save me the trouble of doing a laborious re-install of WinXP if I ever need a fresh start. It's free and reliable but not user friendly to the non-techie.

Wall Street Outsourcing To Exotic Locations Throughout the World

The article doesn't mention moving actual computers anywhere, just the various IT support functions. Imagine off-shoring the actual hardware: good luck when one of these financial banana republics goes Maoist on ya. Instead of an Arab oil embargo, it'll be a server farm embargo. I'd say...

    Encryption software for your computer

I'm not 100% sure how helpful you're required to be anyway. I don't think you have to lead them by the hand through all your nudie pics. Anyway if you're really paranoid, you just pull the hard drive and ship it home separately. No hard drive, no computer search.

Before we can trade in direction of trend, we must identify it first

You must identify the trend before fading it too.

Please vote on this IB feature for options modeling!

Man, this is one thing that thinkorswim has over IB. Being able to do risk graphs for option spreads would be really, really smart on IB's part. (Yes, I voted)

    Cheapest Taxes for Canadian Trader

I hope by "Will be turning fulltime trader soon" you meant *after* you've fully developed your business plan. Your business plan should include tax and expense research. I'd see a tax accountant first, one who specializes in trading. Asking tax related questions here at ET is dangerous at best.

IB or Thinkorswim in terms of security of funds

IB always seemed somewhat anal retentive about their margin rules, funds transfers, etc when compared with other "high flier" brokers like TOS. But it seems to me that this fastidiousness makes IB a very safe operation. IB doesn't (to my knowledge) offer boutique features such as debit cards...

    aapl before earnings...

One worry is that since AAPL is such a darling, then if they disappoint even slightly, it's gap down time. Everyone's been hurt by the recent downturn. Even AAPL isn't immune. Of course I could be totally wrong.

    Encryption software for your computer

Reverse-engineering a trading strategy from a trade log is impossible. There's no way to know what indicators, S/R levels, etc were used, or if the guy was just reading tea leaves. On another note: don't cross into the US through Customs expecting to avoid divulging your encryption keys...
