IB's real time data is NOT tick data. Some people need to see every tick for tape reading, etc. In that case you need a real data provider like Esignal. For "normal" intraday charting, IB's data is fine.

Now I'm not saying one way or the other about my belief in this "discovery". But I was just reflecting the other day that we do seem overdue for a radical new discovery or tech advancement. We've been coasting along tinkering and improving on world-changing technologies for decades now...

Depends on if you need real tick data (time and sales) or not. That would be for scalp-type day trading. If not, then IB's data is fine.

My first impression is it sucks. Let's face it, there are barriers to entry in any market including web search engines. Yes, Google overcame those barriers but it was enormously difficult unseating Yahoo. Recall what happened to the other search engines like askjeeves, etc.
