Help with IB Rates for stocks

There's a data column you can add to the TWS screen that shows if a stock is shortable or not. Green if shortable, red if not.

    Trading For Living - S&P 500 Market.

I guess the main goal would be to leave at least some contracts out there to catch any bigger move. You'd have to work out the math for the different scaling ratios versus how much to tighten the stop (if at all)

    Stockcharts.com or Desktop Software?

They weren't the same but did you independently calculate what the MAs should be? Then you'd know who's wrong.

Yup, roger that. If you want fast, good looking charts for IB use QuoteTracker.

Something that always worries me about index futures: sooner or later liberal "let's stick it to the rich" types in Congress will target the favorable 60/40 tax treatment.

Seems like selling 1/2 at the 2 point target and moving the stop to BE on the remainder seems like an improvement to consider.

Early Assignment On Calendar Spread Question

Hmmm. Your trading style is rather commission intensive. I'm usually in my positions for weeks, sometimes months. My commissions are a small proportion of my risk and reward.

How to interrpret this 15 Min ES Candle

I would have been looking for a higher high after a series of lower highs for an entry on a continuation of the uptrend. I would then have been stopped out at 1 tick beyond the previous bar's low. Outside bars are a pain in the arse, aren't they?

    Stockcharts.com or Desktop Software?

I've been an "Extra" subscriber to stockcharts.com for a while now. I use the scanning feature to find stocks that meet my various criteria (for options trading). Then I save the scan results to a folder and go through them in the "Candleglance" format. That way I can quickly do a bulk...

    Trading For Living - S&P 500 Market.

Don't worry DonKee, I don't just run off and trade every idea I see. As far as the PP is concerned, the day you posted your idea (8/25) the open and PP were very near each other. So you setup that day was fairly straightforward. How about days where the open and PP are farther apart? Also...

    Trading For Living - S&P 500 Market.

DonKee, since there's been some discussion about what A/D indicator the OP is using, could you specify exactly what *you* mean by A/D? Also, why use the XLF in the mix for sentiment?

Early Assignment On Calendar Spread Question

Caveat: I don't regularly do calendars, but I have traded a few. If the short side ever gives you 80%, take it. In other words, if you shorted a front month call at, say $1.00 and it's now worth $0.20, buy it back. Having a standing limit order to do this is helpful. You're reducing your...

    Software to password protect folder

You're probably right. I'm one of those "truly paranoid" people I mentioned before. I always operate under the assumption that any of my computers could be confiscated/lost/stolen during travel or stolen right out of my house.
